According to this: http://www.konami.jp/products/dl_pspps3_castlevania_chronicles_arch/ (http://www.konami.jp/products/dl_pspps3_castlevania_chronicles_arch/)
The PSN store just released the game yesterday (feb 12).
This is the X68000 version of the game.

Coolies, just nabbed it and SOTN. Would be cool if the PSN got Rondo.
-
Is this a more faithful version than one from Chronicles? Otherwise I might actually be interested in getting this.

The superior Castlevania coming this month.
-
Chronicles was essentially an upgraded X68000 port. It featured a new CG cutscene, a new Simon sprite, an improved soundtrack, and a few graphical enhancements. But everything else was nearly identical.
-
Nagumo, it is Chronicles, not a straight port of the X68000 game (though that would be coooool), and it should have the doll voices omitted from the US release.
-
There are a lot of difference of X68000 version and chronicles port (original and arrange) according to this site.

Is this about the arranged version or the original version?

Castlevania Chronicles isn't perfect port of X68000 version. Original mode and arrange mode in the Castlevania Chronicles are almost the same. Some of the difference of Japanese version are corrected by the second lot.

I figured the PlayStation port had to be rather imperfect. I can't really ascertain much of the differences from that translated page, but it sounds like there are a lot of altered mechanics and animation, like the stair animation being choppy in Chronicles (original mode) and the area where you press up or down to climb stairs isn't as broad.
Some tweaks were apparently made for the overseas versions of Chronicles to fix emulation errors.
