Title: Strider was released(Anybody else get it?)
Post by: DragonSlayr81 on February 19, 2014, 04:37:37 PM
Hear it's great on PS4/XBONE/PC(super fluid/60FPS), but I got it on PS3 and it's pretty awesome. This and DuckTales Remastered proves that Capcom can still do good things, even if it means them teaming up with other developers to make those good things happen. Capcom needs more of THESE and less, well, the majority of the crap they produce!

Ah. Thanks for the heads up. I've kept this thing in the back of my mind since it was announced. I was glad to hear they remixed the soundstrack of the original. I'll have to check it out.

also, do you know if they pulled a "strider 2?"

(meaning, "beating the entire game in 15 minutes due to a major overlooked flaw")

In the West, it's digital only. Sucks since Japan gets the physical release(which comes with the original Strider 1 and 2).

Too bad I didn't hold out for DuckTales as well. They eventually released the actual game on a disc. I still think I'll buy, though, if anything, for a collectors item(bought it both on Wii U and PS3).

But yeah, I heard the main complaints was that people though it looked too easy. If anything, it makes you LOOK like a badass(running around, flipping onto walls and slashing the hell out of enemies is cool as fuck), but so far, there are times(a lot of times) when if you don't watch yourself, enemies will fuck you up big time.

PS: Don't know if it contains a similar flaw as in Strider 2. Though, I'm not that far into the game.

Double PS: The backgrounds are pretty impressive. While some were iffy about the graphics and the scanlines, the locations you travel though feel anything but boring. Seeing robots and such being made in the background, as well as people walking around, taking escalator down to the trainstation(not soldiers, but a train station where you see regular people/civilians walking around and waiting for their trains to arrive), it gives the locations some interesting depth.

Does this game include the questing style of gameplay in Strider NES? While Strider 1 and 2 are cool action games, the meat of Strider NES is what I always wished to return.

I don't remember NES Strider as much as the arcade style, but this one feels very Metroidvania-esque. Again, I'm not far into the game, but it's apparent that the places I've travelled through are connected, and you acquire special abilities to help you get to new places. But, it's also pretty linear(at least so far, as I don't know if it opens up later).

Cool. It sounds like it did inherit some of the exploration of the NES version.

I picked up Ducktales remastered and I liked the nod to the NES title as the opening song is still in the NES chip tune format. It didn't take me long to finish it though, but that's no surprise since it was originally a NES title.

I have played the demo this morning, and I have to say that is really good. I like the map display in the corner of the screen. I also love Ducktales Remastered, and I hope the next Capcom Disney game will be Chip & Dale :D

I know, right? That's some seriously patronizing shit right there. As others have said, Japan got a physical PS3 release with 1 and 2 included.

Also hate to be that guy that talks about framerate, but it's dumb that Bionic Commando Rearmed, a 5 year old game, was 60 FPS on the 360 and PS3 and this isn't. Oh well, I'm still pretty hyped, even though I'm a mediocre Strider player at best with the arcade games.

Just wish I hadn't fucked up my computer, or I'd just get the Steam version.

I preordered the game but since they wouldn't let you preload it, I didn't get to play it yesterday. I will be able to try it out once I get home today.

Nope, just 3 versions of the arcade Strider, 1 NES Strider, and the PS1 Strider 2 release (contains one of the 3 versions of 1 I have).

Curious, what is this design flaw that Strider 2 has? If you speak of difficulty, of course it won't be hard with unlimited continues, try doing it in 1 credit and don't continue. The game isn't as easy as it looks when you limit yourself on continues, but a lot of games can be finished with unlimited continues unless they are Ghosts N Goblins hard.

You can, some folks have also did it for the Dungeons & Dragons Collection. Capcom did that one themselves, not Iron Galaxy, folks say it is also better than the digital release we got.

Yeah, you can. Though, might wanna look up a walk through if you aren't fluent in Japanese. It's basically, "You can't pass here, you need ____ ability!".

I got the Japanese D&D Collection. You really don't need to be fluent much to appreciate that one. I think, for most common gamers who don't know Japanese, BEU/Brawlers and fighting games are the best to import. The more text heavy(or hint heavy), the more you might need additional help. Side note, I still don't know why the hell Sony's released text heavy Japanese games on PSN. Some like Makeruna Makendo are fine(it's a fighting game), but others are extremely Japanese only text heavy. There's really no point at all to release them on the Western PSN unless you actually make the effort to translate it(which hell, maybe some of those companies SHOULD, as it's been a fuckin long time, don't we deserve it?).

Thanks for telling me that because I really want D&D :)

I wonder if this will be a dlc code only, and whether the first strider games will be included...

I play games like fire emblem gaiden and even got to the end of tokimeki memorial so a couple of menus should not stop me. But I would be getting it just for strider 2 honestly.

WTF!!! 6,4????

http://www.gametrailers.com/reviews/g8kir2/strider-review (http://www.gametrailers.com/reviews/g8kir2/strider-review)

I've played and although I thought it a little short (8 hours) I usually play ...

The game I found very funny, respecting all the classic but with very good graphics and fast gameplay style. I do not understand the criticism of these times .. maybe I'm getting old or is it just today .. FiFA CoD and do not understand.

Greetings.

I ended up just buying the PAL version after finding out the JPN version's strider 1 and 2 were DLC codes. Couldn't be bothered and I can't understand Japanese. Played about 30 minutes of the game, seems pretty cool and liking the artstyle.

Pretty awesome. Maybe I suck at it though, because I haven't got that gauge completely filled even once yet.

These levels are absolutely sprawling. Really fun just running through and slicing everything you see.

I've really enjoyed it so far. They should let Double Helix make a Mega Man X game.
