Not sure if you guys have heard of this or not. The game is Ghost Song. And holy crap it looks awesome!

All i can think of is Megaman in a metroid world. Looks neat! I like the girl ghost in the end! Very nice special effects. So this is a fan game you say or no??

Where can we purchase this delightful looking game?

Cool. Yeah there's a lot of great indie Metroidvanias being released in recent years, which is great. At least the gameplay style isn't going to dry up and be forgotten like it seemed like it might for a while there.

I don't think it's out yet. They had a kickstarter campaign and raised thousands of dollars. I'm going to look around more tonight and see if I can find a demo.
If any of you guys find anything out about this game post it here and let us know!

Wow... This looks like a spiritual successor to Super Metroid! I have noticed that every game that has come after SM has yet to capture the very same atmosphere it had created. Ghost Song looks as though it has recaptured that very same feeling of being alone on a hostile world. I would definitely like to know too when this puppy is available.

Is this coming out for Steam or Desura? I'm definitely interested.

just makes me wish this was a new metroid game from nintendo (preferrably story-wise taking place after fusion. im so tired of prequel after prequel all the time)
why is it the games fans want the most, companies are refusing to make them, and when fans try to make them, the companies get mad & hand out a cease and desist letter, then outsource their properties to other developers that want to drastically change everything, then if it doesnt work then were stuck with a stagnant franchise that the company doesnt know what to do with

Maybe because "we" are really a small niche of the market.
However, a decent budget can keep us happy and purchasing these for a while.
Imagine if a downloadable title like this came out every three months from different companies:
-Inafune's company
-IntiCreates
-Konami
-WayForward
-Nintendo
-VanillaWare
Just little bite-sized 3-hour romps through space stations, castles, temples, ruins, etc.
I'd be pretty happy.

The notion certainly sounds interesting.

That makes me think it would be awesome if there were a classicvania game that was huge. Like 50 to 100 levels long. It could be done in 10 level episodes that would come out over a year or so.
Or have the game be indefinitely ongoing like a tv show.

If they're gonna do that, I'd hope they'd at least have the decency to finish it at some point, even if it's a quickly-patch-everything-up-and-bring-it-to-a-close ending. Too many TV series have with all these cliffhangers and storylines and then don't get picked up for another season, leaving the viewers stuck always wondering what would have happened.
