Title: Regarding Julius Mode
Post by: Julius Belmont on March 21, 2014, 11:19:05 PM
Hey, I'm Julius Belmont! Anyways Julius Mode, in my opinion, is awesome. I personally love it especially in DoS when you get to fight Soma. I always unlock it because I never fight Dario Bossi (the second time) anyways, I always move on to Aguni whether I choose the good or bad ending depends. I would like to hear your opinions on Julius Mode, because come on it's my mode, I'd like to hear some feedback.

I love Julius Mode in both AoS and DoS, mostly because I can take control of a Belmont again :P, with a whip and the sacred weapons.

As I said in other thread, I prefer the Julius Mode in DoS, because of the use of more characters to play, and the actual history (a what if..? Soma becomes Dracula).

Seeing that mode in the game, make me wish for a CVIII remake, with Alucard, Sypha and Grant (and Trevor, of course), with a similar mode as Portrait of Ruin, in wich you must use the other character ability to pass some obstacles, used in PoR, but not too much (or wise :P)...

I like Aria's Julius mode. Dawn's I just find inadequate and poorly made.

Care to explain why, pal?

I second this post ^^^

Can't see how one would enjoy Aria and not Dawn's which added 2 other playable characters not to mention the nifty character switching which was akin to CV3.

Hahahahaha. I forget to mention that, too. I like more the Julius from AoS, and Yoko, too...

Yea Julius in AOS was more badazz, but I think the julius mode in DOS was better than AOS simply because it added a bit of a story to certain sections of the game (such as when you meet Alucard and Yoko) as well as boss battle with Soma/Dracula at the end of the game which are things the previous mode lacked. And the character switching was a fun nod to CV3 and Yoko and Alucard brought new and interesting ways of traversing the castle.

Although Julius controlled and played much better in AOS I think the julius mode in DOS was a improvement over the last in my opinion for reasons listed above.

Agree ^

I feel the Julius mode in AoS as an extra mode like Maxim in HoD, Richiter :P in SoTN and PoR and Albus in OoE. Modes without an actual history of justification to be. The Sisters mode have its own ending in PoR, but not a final boss.

So, I still prefer DoS Julius Mode... but with the Julius of AoS :)

I'm not very found of how they made me run in DoS I can agree with that. I like the features in DoS but it AoS, as some of you mentioned, I look pretty badass.

I think the Julius modes in both games are fun. He more awesome in AoS but I think DoS is more fun. I understand why they nerfed him in DoS though. As far as I'm concerned Julius mode is the real ending to DoS

I love both Julius modes.

I have yet to get into Dawn of Sorrow because I completely despise the art style and can't get past it. I did however love the Julius Mode in Aria of Sorrow. It offered the same type of challenge as Richter mode in SotN but minus the utter brokenness of the item crashes. I really like the concept of playing the DoS Julius mode, though.

Well, you can always just get the bad ending of DoS so that you can instantly unlock Julius mode.
As for the art style, it can easily be overlooked during conversations. The regular gameplay is still sprite based and with the vagueness of sprites, you can always replace stuff in your head.

I discussed this in another topic:

Even DoS Julius mode is a hack job. The spritework is terrible- youve got Alucard squeezed right outta SotN into the DS, and Julius with a solid black outline. Also, the mode is unbalanced as shit. Julius is nerfed from Aria, his Grand Cross being kind of weak, Alucard is almost worse than his CV3 incarnation, and Yoko... first she's animated very weirdly- second- she uses up way too much magic to be useful at all.

And by the time you are halfway through, everything suddenly becomes retardedly difficult because it's designed for Soma without any balancing factor for Julius and Co.

Also, Soma is a disappointingly shit Dracula fight.

^I can see where you're coming from with your Julius points but they kinda had to nerf him or else no one would use Alucard or Yoko. How is Alucard almost worse than his CV3 self? To each their own but I didn't think Julius mode was hard. Moreover, I thought the Soma fight was fun.

Completely agree.

There is a reason why they had to nerf him for reasons listed above.

And regarding Alucard, they very well could not have him being able to do most of his moves from SOTN, cause then he would beoverpowered and nobody would want to use Julius or Yoko.

So they limited him to very basic stuff such as the Alucard sword, Hellfire,Bat form and the super jump.

He is nowhere near as worse as CV3 Alucard if you ask me since all he was limited to was hellfire and bats.

Also another thing Alucard had going for him was the Diagonal sword slash and that came in handy for some of the smaller monsters.

Julius mode in AoS is the superior of the two for me. The character sprite in DoS looked rushed. He also had that terrible black outline that made it all the more cheap. They couldn't even take the time (which would have been no time at all) to put in a proper-looking Vampirekiller whip. They did it in PoR yet they did not in DoS' Julius mode. WTF!?! And also the strength of the Vampirekiller was greater in AoS. In DoS its strength doesn't keep up with the rest of the game, and by the time you get to the final areas Alucard's sword is actually stronger then the Vampirekiller. Again, WTF!?! Yeah AoS Julius mode get's my vote. But what is good about DoS' Julius mode is that there is a story behind it rather then just another unlockable mode.
