Title: Direct X 12, Microsoft's plan to get back in the game
Post by: KaZudra on March 22, 2014, 04:00:31 AM
Direct X 12 is Microsoft's new API, built from scratch to address many of the problems of the previous releases, as well as major optimizations.

Xbox One, PC, and Windows Phones will run off of Dx12

Xbox One may be able to play games at 1080p because of dx12 (Will have similar performance optimizations as PS4)

Since Xbox Ones will use the same Programing language as PCs, Porting will be more likely

OpenGL for lyfe. Though seriously I prefer OpenGL because well, it's open. http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/01/Why-you-should-use-OpenGL-and-not-DirectX (http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/01/Why-you-should-use-OpenGL-and-not-DirectX) http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2014/03/20/opengl-gdc2014/ (http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2014/03/20/opengl-gdc2014/) And closed corporate systems monopolies are never good for the end user. This sounds like Microsoft scrambling to keep OpenGL from being a threat since Valve is gonna push it pretty hard with SteamOS.
