This is 3 months old so I'm guessing some of you have seen these before. But it's certainly not something I ever thought I'd see. It's an interesting take! What do you all think?
Castlevania 2 - Bloody Tears Cover - BGO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJySelcnppE#ws)
Castlevania Cover - Wicked child - Banjo Guy Ollie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6uNlgcbBKk#ws)
EDIT: Had missed the Bloody Tears cover at first there.

This is awesome. I mean, I've always wanted a banjo just to be THAT guy who plays bluegrass just to annoy people, but I'd love to play stuff like this on there.
-
Great stuff altogether. Get this dude and Smooth McGroove in a room and start 'em busting out tunes.
-
Those are awesome! (McGroove is pretty awesome as well!) Two particularly good tunes too! I'd love to see this guy make some more!
I usually like these kinds of things, probably regardless what instrument being used!

As neat as this is, you figure he would do tracks that would likely fit a banjo, or string instrument in general, better.
But, I guess if you're just trying to get hits by picking the 'well knows' then this is what you end up with.

He's not the first person to do them with strings. He did Wicked Child first then Bloody Tears was a request. I actually like his version of WC better than the FamilyJules7X's version, though FJ7X usually does great stuff. I thought he put way too much distortion in the background which took away from the melody. Wicked Child Castlevania Guitar Cover (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOe92DMDOP0#ws)

He also did Vampire Killer.
I found it amusing, and I actually sent in a suggestion to see if he would take on Clockwork from Castlevania III.

I can actually hear this inside my head right now. I wonder if his version will sound the same?..
-
If he gets back with you and does it, be sure to post it. :-)

The plingy sound the Banjo makes is actually a pretty good representation of the waveform the NES makes when doing a lot of its melodies.
It is not too different from a Harpsichord sound, so it 'could' be worked... but that styles of the game musics don't lend themselves to it.
Unfortunately, there are no Bluegrass tunes in Castlevania that could be used in banjo covers (trust me, I've looked; you would have to heavily modify tunes).
Bluegrass videogame music? You wanna go to Super Mario Bros. for that.

Wicked Child sounds fucking amazing on banjo.

That's what prompted your Facebook post of this? :D
Super Mario World - Athletic Theme Banjo & Guitar Duel ft. SongeLeReveur (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5KBI_9bm-I#ws)
Always welcome. Love it.

Both are awesome, but Wicked Child is definitely my favorite out of the two performances--I'd love an entire Castlevania game done with this guy providing the soundtrack.

FOUND ONE!
This was posted on Facebook's Castlevania group, today:

Isn't that rendition of Bloody Tears the same as the top post's? Sounds the same to me.
-
Well I feel like a fool; it was so long ago from the first post that it became new to me.
Carry on! xD
