Title: I'm going all-out with Castlevania in October with my Wii-U
Post by: Jorge D. Fuentes on September 27, 2014, 09:01:11 AM
I'm ready for Castlevania October Month with my Wii-U (and its virtual Wii mode 'vWii'):

-Castlevania 1 (NES Virtual Console - vWii)
-Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest (NES Virtual Console - vWii)
 -Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse (NES Virtual Console - vWii+WiiU)
-Super Castlevania IV (SNES Virtual Console - vWii+WiiU)
-Castlevania Bloodlines (Sega Genesis Virtual Console INJECTION - vWii)
-DraculaX: Rondo of Blood (TG16 Virtual Console - vWii)
-Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth (Wiiware - vWii)
-Castlevania: The Adventure (vWii Softmod - vbagx)
-Castlevania Adventure 2: Belmonts' Revenge (vWii Softmod - vbagx)
-Castlevania Legends (vWii Softmod - vbagx)
-Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (vWii Softmod - vbagx)
-Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (vWii Softmod - vbagx)
-Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (vWii Softmod - WiiSX)
-Vampire Killer (vWii Softmod - BlueMSX-Wii)
-Haunted Castle (vWii Softmod - MAME Wii)

 And in October:
-Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (GBA Virtual Console - WiiU)
-Castlevania: DraculaXX (SNES Virtual Console - WiiU)

Very difficult titles to play on vWii/WiiU:
-DraculaX: Gekka no Yasoukyoku (vWii Softmod - Yabuse Saturn Emulator - doesn't load)
-Castlevania Chronicles - X68000 (music is choppy on WiiSX, no x68000 Wii emu)
-Castlevania 64 (can be injected into F-ZeroX Virtual Console, but you won't be able to save... HARRRD)
-Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (plays choppy when injected into F-ZeroX Virtual Console, AND you cannot save)

Definitely impossible:
-Any LoS title
-Castlevania: The Arcade
-Any Pachislot title
-Castlevania: The Medal
-Tiger Handheld
-SotN Game.com
-Resurrection
-...other stuff that might not run on WiiU/vWii...

Pretty great collection of Castlevania games, even though people have to mod their Wii Us for most of them (which most people just don't bother).

Should be great to all the 10 owners of modded Wii U's (compared to the 20 that own the console).

 :P :-X

Nice list. Maybe it would be easier to play most of them on the original hardware though? The more I think about it the more I think I might go ahead and play through Rondo of Blood and Legacy of Darkness this October, maybe Castlevania 3 if I have time after those two. Won't have as much time this year as I did last year when I got through I think at least 5 games.

I'll be playing most of mine on my Ouya.

I'm really starting to consider selling my physical collection of CV (it's big). I just don't have the room to store stuff like that anymore with all of the toys my kid has. LOL

Anyways, it doesn't really make sense for me to own copies of the games I can play on my laptop,Ouya, and iphone.

I think you should know that I own the original hardware for a lot of these, but this isn't an 'original hardware' thread.
I would think you would know that as well.

Judgment's perfectly compatible with the Wuu. Are you avoiding that one deliberately?

Oh I do. Was just saying I personally wouldn't go through the trouble of emulating them. Not making judgement or anything, just saying I'd mostly be too lazy to be working on getting them all running on the Wii U. XD Though irregardless of any limitations or difficulties that's still a nice collection of games for the month.

It is! I just forgot about it.  Bad Jorge! xD

I think Nintendo was talking about bringing DS games to Wii-U.  It is possible, since with Wii-U you have two screens.  You can easily have the main game running on the TV and the status/map/etc. screen on the Gamepad.

EDIT: Yeah they brought the DS game "Brain Age: Train Your Brain for Minutes A Day" to Wii-U in Japan.  Blah, only Japan.
However, Satoru Iwata said they'd be bringing DS games to Wii-U at some point this year.
