I was just wondering what the people think the next Castlevania game should be, and what system it would be for. Here is the game I would create.
Castlevania: Finality of Sorrow
For: DS
The third game in the sorrow series, ends the sorrow series. Castlevania mysteriously appears in rural Japan. Soma, Julius, Hammer, Mina, and Yoko go to investigate. Arikado/Alucard is missing. You play as Soma, and switch to Julius and Hammer. Yoko mantains shop, and soul to weapon combine. You find quickly that Arikado is the bad guy in this game, and that he has abbducted Mina. You go through the castle, and eventually get to the throne. Arikado is in his close from SoTN. You defeat Arikado, but do not kill him. After he has been defeated, a black smog drifts out of his body. The smog materializes, and it turns out that Graham (from AoTS) didn't die and that he was behind the cult in DoS and had corrupted Arikado to get Dracula's true powers. You defeat Graham and the game ends. Upon beating the game, you unlock a bonus "Graham Mode" and a "Evil Soma Mode" where Soma has different powers and a different storyline. His clothes are a black overjacket, red shirt, and black jeans. Graham's mode has his own storyline as well, and is a prequel to AoTS, so it has a completely different setting.
-
The next Castlevania game should be: Worth playing, worth viewing, worth hearing, and worth owning.
- If it's on the DS, it should follow the trend set forth by its predecessors.
Anyway, I do agree that a future DS title would end the Sorrow storyline for Soma. The big issue though is how many fans of the series seem to want to actually see the little guy *fail* in his fight against his inner darkness and succumb to the power of the dark lord. So, with that in mind, I would say scrap the concept of Arikado as even a faux villain and leave out Graham and other dark lord candidates entirely (unless they could return as controllable souls to be overcome and mastered). Hammer can and should commit self-sacrifice for the greater good and for the sake of his friends. And Mina should play a much more prominently active role (for once). Selected souls should be able to be combined with others for different effects (not always beneficial either) while assorted pieces of armor and weapons should somehow become more uniquely affected by them. Lame manga-inspired dialogue should be kept to a minimum and there should be more places to explore than just the castle. And please bring back an inspiring castle, because Portrait's oddly designed digs were seriously lacking.
That said, whether Soma's good or evil in the game his final struggle should be internal, and Julius must have a hand in ending the boy's torment once and for all. And if the only way for Soma to admit he has feelings for the girl in his life is in her cliched death, then So F***ing Be It. Just end this anime excursion into the Demon Castle so we can go home and move on to the next trilogy.

Castlevania V: The Bloodletting (DS)- Created by WayForward, the developers behind the critically acclaimed Contra 4, The Bloodletting is Konami's newest entry into the 20-year old bat whipping franchise. Players take the role of some Belmont family member and jump, whip, and swing their way through 16 stages, each with totally awesome 2D designs and branching paths.
...Yeah, it'll never happen. But a man can dream, can't he?

I would like to see a remake of castlevania belmont's revenge the same style as Circle of The Moon.
Before you start rushing at me, first hear what i have to say: Circle was a different castlevania from all others and i believe that if it was having better graphics and even music, that game could have been far better!
All i want to say is that a remake of belmont's revenge with a similliar game play style would have been interesting for a change. I' m not saying that it should have the same exactly game play, but something like that.
Can you imagine it with graphics the same quality as symphony or even better and that style of game play?
Also i don't care which console it would have been as long as it was going to get reality.

Castlevania resurrection

Castlevania resurrection
I totally agree with you! ;)
-
Castlevania resurrection
Ugh....if they went through with Resurrection I would be so upset with Konami. Not only does it take lame now non-existing Belmont, Sonia, from the past, but it also takes made up, whiny pussy Belmont, Victor ( I don't want to be a Belmont), from the future and put them in the year 1666, which is such a cheesy year to use, and make you play as one of them. I think Resurrection should lye dead where it is, never to show its ugly face, and never be mentioned again...
Although, maybe it should have been made, this way people wouldn't bitch about PoR as much!
-
I agree. Had they DRASTICALLY changed the premise, nix Sonia, nix the time traveling, set it in the 1800s, keep Victor yet change his backstory AND design(make him less Tim Curry, more traditional Belmont), maybe that would've been interesting. I mean, Victor Belmont is a nice name. Keep it. As it was, the designs were terrible. Horse-jawed women and awkward looking guys.

Dracula's wife looked awesome. Straight out of a Disney movie. D:

nothing was said about it except that it was a render for a female dracula, I mean who said he had to be resurrected as a man each time? maybe shaft messed up a spell or something, those things never happen while they actually should since people do make mistakes :P also, resurrection had a nice concept that still looked sucky in general but that's basicly because it didn't get time to fully develop now did it?
-
Graphically I don't care how it looked. It was supposed to be an early release DC game. Castlevania 64's graphics weren't great but I love that game....it's just the awful, awful ideas behind that game.
There's not a single Castlevania game I hate, and even though Legends has Sonia, the games not terrible, but if Resurrection would have come out to be the garbage it's said to be, I would most definitely have hated it

Castlevania 5 - Simon Returns
Okay, seriously, here's my idea...
Castlevania: Symphony of Twilight
Plot: Nearing the turn of the 20th century, In Paris, a young Opera Star is kidnapped and taken deep below the Opera Garnier by a vampire, and into the newly risen Castlevania, which sits across a vast underground lake. Sleeping within the castle is Dracula himself, waiting for a sacrifice that may return him to the world. Her only hope is a mysterious masked man named Erik, who wields the whip known as the Vampire Killer.
-

From its humble section on this site:
"The year is 1666. Dracula has returned to threaten the mortal world! Summoning all of the power of Hell, the dark countess of Castlevania has created a portal allowing Dracula to re-enter the material plane.
Taken from the official website as well, when it still existed. The Countess was a seperate person from Dracula. No transgender vampire for you. D:
I dunno, the idea of time travel sounds like crap in my opinion. Granted, so does the thought of playing as a high school guy who goes to the Castle through a Shinto shrine gate, where the Castle is now stuck in an eclipse, but it worked somehow.

I'd like to see a sequel to Symphony of the Night, in glorious 2d of course, and I'd prefer it on the PSP. I've replayed a lot of the recent Castlevanias in the last two months (Harmony, Dracula X Chronicles, Aria, Dawn, Portrait, Symphony), and there really is an epic feel inherent to Symphony that all its followers have glaringly missed by a mile. It's difficult to adequately qualify, but SoTN just feels, looks, plays, and sounds miles apart from the subsequent entries. I'd like to see Konami try to truly recapture that magic, and I'd like it to look and sound as good as possible, which is why I'd prefer it on the PSP rather than the DS; but, if Konami can figure out how to really push the DS hardware better than they've done so far (and I mean a lot better), I wouldn't mind seeing it there either.
-
I want it to star Simon again, but in new adventure.
-
Another thought. For those of you who played CoTM, it mentioned that Nathan's parents and Baldwin fought Dracula 10 or 20 years earlier. Wouldn't it be cool if they made that into a game? But everyone is waiting for the 1999 battle. They should make a 99' game on the ps3 if it is a good 3d castlevania.
ps: how do you get a picture under your profile name?

The Phantom of the opera as a Belmont? Hmmm... It seems like it could be cool... but I don't know.
-
I would like to see a remake of castlevania belmont's revenge the same style as Circle of The Moon.
Amen! CoTM was one of the best Castlevanias. It rules! ;D
-
All of these would be 3-D.
Castlevania: Cataclysm
Mathias shortly before the events of Dracula's Curse. The game begins with a prologue where Al witnesses the execution of Lisa. After her death, Mathias begins to build his unholy juggernaut. He defeats a group of other vampires and demons who stand in his way (they'd rather enslave and oppress humans than destroy them since that benefits them more. Drac has no interest in this since his is a quest of revenge). During the game Mathias travels around the world, acquiring some of his primary servants, such as Minotaur and Medusa.
The game ends with a cliffhanger with Drac assuming control over the castle. The remaining members of the order begin plotting their revenge against Drac.
Gameplay: employing Drac's spells, vampire abilities and devil forgery.
Playable characters: Mathias/Dracula, St.Germain, Belmont (Trevor's dad?)
Castlevania: Dethronement
The same organization Drac almost wiped out is back. Between Dracula's Curse and SotN, they succeed in stealing Drac's castle from him, literally throwing him out. A powerful demon (the new "right hand of Chaos") is summoned. Unbeknowst to the order, the creature's presence starts interrupting the barrier between the Chaos realm and the world and the only way to reverse the effect is to kill it and give control back to castle's rightful owner, Dracula.
St. Germain, being a time traveller, travels back to this
time and manipulates a Belmont, Alucard, various supernatural mercenaries and the disguised Dracula to take care of the situation. The game chronicles Drac regaining his powers to kick his unwanted guests out and Alucard struggling between his feelings of hate towards humanity and the promise he made to his mother. The Victor-like Belmont in this game also secretly spurns his life as a recluse caused by the people's fear of his powers and the heavy responsibility that comes with the Belmont name.
Playable characters: Belmont, Dracula, Alucard
Castlevania: The Oblivion Signet
The battle of 1999. Explains how the castle was sealed away and Drac was freed of his resurrections.
Playable characters: Julius Belmont, Alucard etc.
Castlevania: Epilogue of Sorrow
Playable characters: Soma, Alucard, Yoko, Julius's son, Grant's descendant
The final chapter of Soma's story. Will he eventually become the Dark Lord or will someone else assume that title like Alucard believed?
Castlevania: Purgatory
Remake of Simon's Quest. The curse starts eating through Simon, but also ables him to use some spiffy dark powers, which, when overused, result in negative consequences and/or affect the ending.
-
Here's my idea. It is another end to the sorrow games. It is a year or two after DoS. Soma's life has been normal since DoS. However, Arikado (Alucard) begins to notice that Soma seems to have retained some of the abilities that he absorbed. Fearing that Soma may turn evil on his own naturally, Arikado starts to keep an even closer eye on him. Not long after that, Castlevania appears during a lunar eclipse and once again someone comes after Soma. After fighting off the initial attack, Soma decides to go defeat whoever is after him this time. So you play through the game. You as Soma defeat the mastermind in the castle keep. However, when you defeat this person, he/she reveals that there is a part of the prophecy from AoS that no one know about. Basically, according to this person, while the new master would come to the castle in 2035, he would not truly become the Dark Lord until 2037/2038 (which ever year this game takes place in). After this is revealed, the person dies and Arikado steps into the room. He says that Soma seems to becoming more powerful and needs to be stopped or he would become the dark lord. He then attacks Soma. This would be the final boss fight. If Arikado's hp drops to half, he reveals his true self, Alucard, and attacks you with all the abilities he had in SotN. The ending of the game would depend on who wins the fight. So there would be two possible endings. One if Soma wins. The other is if Alucard wins. Basically, the winner of the battle ends up losing his humanity and becomes the new dark lord while the other one dies.
What do you all think?

What I'd like to see...
Castlevania: World in Darkness
I also wouldent mind an online CV MMO that takes place in another reality or timeline where the Belmonts never exsisted and Drac took over the world and you can be any number of things from merchants, forgemasters, and werewolves to vampires, succubi, andsoulmasters. You could chose to be a hunter or a support character. A totally open, Drac infested world to explore. I don't know what time to set it in though...any thoughts?
Castlevania: Epilogue of Sorrow
finish the Sarrow story. I liked the idea of soma being the threat and Julius or his son being the hero.
Castlevania: Sins of the Father
a good 3D CV (with correct porportions...DMC got the stairs right, good graphics...look at MGS4, and depth...SotN is still the deepest CV) that expands on the Alucard/Trevor conection (with playable flashbacks to Legends, Curse of Dracula, and ties up the loose ends from Curse of Darkness. We could even see the death of Alucard's mother and why he turned againinst his father, what happened to Sonia, Grant, and Sypha. If I was to think of a game that I would like 3D CV to play like it would be God of War.
Castlevania: Time of Terror
3D CV that takes place in St. Germain's home time and follows him as he get's inducted into the world of CV.
Castlevania: Rebirth of Death
A new consol based 2D CV. A new storyline with a new hero or heroes that...and get the depth right...as I said, SotN is still the deepest CV. Oh yeah, no more cliche heroes and villans (i.e. twe guys that are exactly the same but one is evil and one is good...2 forgemasters...2 werewolves...3 potential vessels for drac...ect... and the kidnapped girlfriend is getting kinda old too...been saving the princess since Mario...how 'bout a bounty hunter doing it for the money).
Castlevania: The Movie
Don't screw it up. If done right the movie could be awsome...and for god's sake...and mine...NO GAME BASED ON THE MOVIE!!!
-
I would like to post my idea for the next Castlevania but I have an idea for a kickass homebrew or level edit. It would be done as a rendition of what Simon's Quest could have done more. But I will leave that to another time.
I just want to see a Castlevania done like LOI with as compelling a storyline but with better graphics. COD was not bad but the gameplay was only B- level and the storyline was very good IMO but not as impactful as LOI. The great thing about Castlevania is the possibilities.

Something I've thought about for a few years now is incorperating The Phantom of the Opera into Castlevania. We have lots of movie monsters and characters making appearances in the games, so it's not like we need an excuse. Just make a new "Opera House" level in the castle, and put the Phantom of the Opera as level's boss at the end. I can think of an endless amount of special abilities he could have.
What would add to the cool factor in that is if the background music for the level is an instrumental remix of the PotO theme song with an upbeat tempo to get your blood pumping.
And maybe pushing it, but installing him as a playable character after you beat the game would be so much fun if you could use all his abilities and whatnot.
That would be the coolest thing ever in a Castlevania game.

CV4 remake in full 3d, then CV3, then Rondo, then SotN then Maria's own game, then Bloodlines.
I kid you not, this is what I want.... if done well atleast.

I love your idea about Phantom of the opera! Wow, an opera house with stages, curtains and props, it is a great idea for a new level design.
Listen to this techno mix of POTO:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gY82Fu3arI
In the game they could have this instrumental only..it rules!! I would kill for a level like this one!
Get this to Iga, now!!!! :) I really love the idea.

Well who couldn't? That game would have kicked ass. Personally, I would like another remake for now. Either Cv Adventure + Belmonts Revenge for DS, or Bloodlines for PSP.
-
In Reply To #24
That would be a great lineup to look forward to, IMO too. I would move the Maria game after "Bloodlines," but other than that, t'would be sweet.
-
My idea for games that could somehow save the Castlevania saga, that's dying for original additions to it is creating a "Castlevania Gaiden" mini-series, or in other words, CV side-stories.
The whole Belmont vs. Dracula plot has gone way too repetitive and there must be something new. In SotN, CoD and the Sorrow series Konami tried to be original by making the main hero a non-Belmont. Yet it wasn't that different. How about instead, taking a Belmont and putting him in a different situation? I always said that the Belmont could fight enemies other than Dracula and in places other than CV. That could free the series from that repetitive formula. Make side stories, that's what I'm saying!
-
In Reply To #24
Those are all great but I above all, I want Maria to have her own game.
-
Yeah but how many of the side characters got their own games? We have Alucard who evolved from an addon in cv3 into main protagonist, but that's it. He had potential for a new hero, seeing as he's a vampire and a son of Drac, but Maria's hardly special enough.
The only way to see that would be to make it yourself. You can grab her dxc sprites from my site, and the crappy nitm ones from anapan's. The effects for her subweapons I'd have to send since only a guy called gemini ripped them, but he has no real place where he hosts it as far as I remember.

Yeah, maybe, but she's still awesome. I've had more fun playing as her than any other character in the series. She was the first to have a double jump and slide, after all. That makes her extremely important in my eyes. And I have no idea how to make a game. I was lucky enough to be able to move a sprite across a screen through multiple rooms in Gamemaker, but thats about it.
-
Hmm, perhaps. Rondo was her best performance, and indeed the first game to include a very mobile and agile hero unlike the other brick heroes.
Psp sotn would've been fine, except from what I hear she's seriously underpowered and lost 2 of her subweapons. Nitm's like megaman in maria's outfit. And pork... well let's not even mention that. :P

Serio, hon, I is curious. What is up with the references to pork in your posts? I'm assuming it's not cuz you're Jewish.
Oh, and uh, idea for a new CV..... hrmm. Well, I can think of a nice bonus game for *after* the main adventure ^_^ Sulaco shows up at the castle, having been interrupted from his solitude by a great disturbance in the force resulting from Castlevania's latest uprising [pun intended] and he just tears through it slaughtering everyone inside simply because he is plain pissed. Never levels up, never has to equip armor or use items. Just plain old fashioned Run The CV Gauntlet gameplay with twisted and gratuitously gory attacks. Dracula and Death would both crap their robes by the end and 'Lac would return to hell to light up a big fat cigar while surrounded by all the CV bitches in existence. - Even a medusa head ;D The End. "Now turn off this game and go live what remains of your depleting life, foolish mortal." Heee!

Pork = Portrait of Ruined Kastlevania
a nickname for that crappy game that puts a stain on the good name of castlevania almost as badly as legends. :o
-
Ahh. Okay, that makes sense. Though I can't say it tainted Castlevania's name for me as badly. Certainly wasn't as bad as Curse or Legends in my book. But oh well.-- *lifts a skewered sausage up* To Pork. Salud.
-
Level design wise it was the cod in 2d. Copypasta all around, boring uninspired repetitive levels too. It wasn't all flat, but that's cause it's 2d. Curse was a 2d level design in 3d game, so it showed there more.
Also curse's characters were 100x better than pork's. Not overly animeized weeaboo material. :P

I had the exact same IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!
exept mina wasnt missing.
and alucard was being controled by shaft
(I was trying to think of some weird twist)
but I had ideas of like making soma switch between him and yoko or something like that.(kind of like jonathan and charlotte)
-
In Reply To #1
I also wanted to add(i forgot in the first post)
that there would be a cool battle between soma and alucard in the beginning (kind of like the first stage in sotn)
and when u win, alucard just leaves but he uses soul steal first, and takes away all of soma's souls (I would use this as an excuse for making start from scratch again)
-
one more idea (new game)
Don't any of u think it would be fun to play like cotm, hod, aos in a stage by stage way?
i would make cotm like that..
Like seal away all the extra rooms, where there's a save spot just hide a piece of meat in the wall. and were there was breakable walls in the original game, I would put extra lives
