Title: Monikers
Post by: theANdROId on January 10, 2015, 11:08:23 AM
So...I'm just curious...is there any particular reason or explanation behind your chosen moniker for the dungeon?

Mine was given to me awhile back.  When I was a teen in youth group, we went to a particular camp every summer (with activities like paintball, mountain biking, caving, rappelling, white water rafting, etc..)  Either my first or second year, I was in a room with a few of the goofier seniors and one decided to give everyone in the room a weird and random nickname for the week.  Mine was "The Android".  I forget how my particular capitalization "theANdROId" came about, but that's how I came about this particular moniker!

What's your story?

I like Freddy Krueger because he's a maniac serial killer with a sense of humor.
Also since the original Castlevania bosses were horror movie monsters, I think it's only fitting to use one as my identity in the Dungeon.

The mooning is just taking Freddy to the extreme. Not only do I kill annoying teenagers, I also moon people to annoy them to the max.

Mine's from my time on the Chapel. When I first joined up there, I was, uh...let's just say a god-tier newfag and leave it at that, and I didn't have the sense to check memberlists to see if Dracula was available. I added the 9 for that reason, and it just kinda stuck. In the CV community I've adhered to it ever since, as well as my Youtube user being an obvious allusion to the Chapel.

Is there a reason or meaning behind Gunlord?

Took the name after Ratty the water vole in "The Wind in the Willows", I like the sound of it and after reading the book he seemed like an admirable character. Really should read the book again sometime.

I accidentally rated this topic a 2, I didn't mean to rate it at all and now it's not letting me change it. Weird it used to allow that I'm sure. Sorry e.e

Black speech eh, Drac9? Hehehe. Or we can just use this instead:
hashtag durbatulûk, hashtag gimbatul,
hashtag thrakatulûk, hash burzum ishi krimpatul.

As for my name, I had a liking for white bats after AoS and just translated white bat into Japanese.

Well, at the time I started getting an XBLA account, MegaMan X was my favorite game. My DAd was sitting in the room, and I couldn't think of a good name.
I thought MegaBuster, but my dad said that was too generic. He said it needed some color, so I said "How about MegaBusterBloo?" He said it sounded okay. After I started getting on the internet more (joining Sprites.Inc to be exact) I realized Zero was my favorite character, so I changed it to ZeroSaberGreen. It varies throughout websites tho (like on the CVBLA forum, I'm ZSG-sama). I've just stuck with with it. Although I suppose I could be TrevorWhipSilver, GrantKnifeGrey, or DraculaCapeBlack.

Out of all the Mega Man games out there I chose mine after Mega Man X, except it's just X. Of all the other Mega Mans' he is my favorite version of the Blue Bomber. It is also a pen name I use for my drawings like my Bro uses kypsilon for his. I was doing that before I came onto the Dungeon forums back in the day. I feel like this is the third thread made for this topic... At least that's what I remember.

Heh.

Though, ghashbrulk is the closest thing to "gun" that Black Speech can come up with; "ghash" meaning fire and "brulk" meaning weapon/arm. It literally translates to firearm.

Post by: Jorge D. Fuentes on January 11, 2015, 08:27:39 AM
My name here is... my name. :P

It makes it easier for people to find me and my musical/art stuff online if they know my name.  The "D." makes it easier to differentiate me from the slew of other "Jorge Fuentes"'s out there.
You will not know what the D. stands for, though.

My online handle when I'm not using my real name is "TGMagus".
Magus is one of my favorite characters from the SNES era, along with people like Setzer from FF, so I picked Magus.  The TG comes from another game, and it's one of the nicknames that one of the most badass characters has, so I took the nickname, and the magus name, and blended them into "TGMagus".

I use TGMagus on Skype, Steam, AIM, Youtube, etc.

Huh, didn't we have a topic like this before? Granted, it was years ago...
Anyway, mine's something I came up with rather hastily during Serio's Castlevania Fighter's textboard days, when I decided that appending Cronqvist as Dracula's middle name was somehow a good idea. To this day I still wonder if it really was.

Post by: Abnormal Freak on January 11, 2015, 03:44:53 PM
My original Dungeon name was Lord Death, which I'd previously used on Konami's board. Thinking it too generic, I quickly changed it to an even more generic name, castlevania_freak, after my email address at the time.

Abnormal Freak (plus a slew of others: Specially Gifted Freak, QuakeNINFreak, Dysfunctional Freak, and others I can't even remember) came about not long after and is the one that ultimately stuck. It raised questions of what an abnormal freak is, since "freak" itself already implies abnormality; thus, Abnormal Freak becomes Normal Person.

Although once some time later I saw in an online dictionary the word heteroclite, with the description: An abnormal freak.
