Are we going with theplottwist's suggestion on: Candelabra designs?
If not, fire away with your suggestions.
What is the maximum pixel size?
Are the any restrictions? etc.
-
Candelabra designs sounds a little restrictive, but it's a neat idea.
We also have the Succubus idea... 8)

How about a SOTN Alucard Re-design?

"Castlevanize" a character from another videogame, or "Decastlevanize" any character in the castlevania saga. ;D

...Screen Mock Up of a Demon Castle War game...

I'd be up for the former.

I'll just make a poll
candelabra
succubus
"Castlevanize" a character from another videogame
Just vote for what you like, then that's gonna be the theme for March.

It seems that the overwhelming majority favors the option: "Castlevanize" a character from another videogame
Are there any special rules for this one aside from:
- the usual free-for-all on the size and color selection
- 2x zoom required only for sprites that are small
- contestants may submit as many entries as they want
-
Maybe not so much a definite rule, but perhaps a request to try and choose characters that are dissimilar enough to provide adequate challenge. It wouldn't be hard to Castlevanize Indiana Jones, for example.
Obviously this has the potential to be very restricting, hence why I suggest it as more a formal suggestion/request rather than an infallible rule.
AW SHIT A THOUSAND POSTS YEAH BOYYYYYYYY
*fires confetti*

Good idea D9! I'll add that request.
And congrats on reaching a 1000 posts! :)
-
Just so we're clear, do we have to lift the character design verbatim from the source material, or is it okay to make alterations so long as the character itself is recognizable (e.g. pulling a Koumajou Densetsu)?
-
I had assumed so, so I think that's reasonable.

The question I have is how do you define the transition? That character drawn in the sprite style and proportions of CV? This would make the first rule at odds with this. Or a redesign of the character into a Castlevania themed outfit? In which case you'd really be better off NOT doing a sprite but a larger detailed 'pixel drawing'.
