The time has come, we need to get Simon into SSB! My ideas for a move set:
- A-attacks: all directional variations of his regular whip attack, holding A will let you rotate the whip and destroy projectiles
- B: Knife throw, hold for Axe throw
- Up-B: Whip grab from Super Castlevania IV
- Side-B: Cross boomerang
- Down-B: Holy water bottle throw
- Final smash: either Divine Storm, Grand Cross, or The Greatest Five

I would like to see Sakurai redesign Simon a bit, Pit and Palutena's modern designs are excellent. Simon has so many, they need to settle on a balance or make a new one exclusively for Smash.

I am very confident that no other character deserves his place on Smash Bros more than Simon does. Even Snake made it, why the heck not Simon Belmont?

EDIT: I gave it a shot anyway. I went with "A Belmont (e.g. Simon, Trevor, Richter)"...I just want a whip wielder, I don't think I care who...though I did also say "NOT Lords of Shadow". I do have that preference.
I tried to be..."eloquent"...ish...perhaps thinking it might persuade them to actually do it, if this is for real.
"Castlevania, and the Belmont legacy, has been enjoyed on many of Nintendo's systems for over 25 years. Much to the chagrin of fans, the series hasn't received much love recently, despite an attempted reboot (which seemed to be disliked by many fans.) Given Castlevania's rich history, a Belmont could easily fit into the Smash Bros. universe. The whip would be a great basic weapon (like Link's sword) with a plethora of sub-weapons and powers to add to the character's move-set. Also, other features of the series could contribute towards items, levels, assist trophies, other characters, and more!"

It said vote once...but I kinda don't want to. I wouldn't mind seeing Alucard in Smash...or for that matter, we had some neat ideas on that Smash Bros. Character (http://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/index.php/topic,7613.0.html) thread I started awhile back.

I'm actually really tempted to go vote again, but for Mike (Startropics) or Crystalis. Having gone back to that Smash Bros. thread and read through it again, we had some awesome ideas. And, not to toot my own horn, but I think the elemental swords of Crystalis could be a neat mechanic...adding burn, freeze, stun, push back chances for fire, water, thunder, and wind swords respectively...as well as altering the final smash based on the sword equipped.

Yes we should band together and make Simon a reality come on guys and girls we as castlevania fans should come together and make it a reality. It should be done Yamane has all ready done music for smash 4 the signs are there is has to be done :'( IT should be done just to get one representative from our series.

Had a friend tell me he voted for Vyse, from Skies of Arcadia. Another mentioned Jeff (from Earthbound).
Both are interesting ideas.
EDIT: Curious...what are the chances that our votes are "tracked" or something, and if we vote more than once, our vote is changed to whatever we sent most recently? Is that even possible?

Okay, that one's pretty fuckin' funny.
And to be honest I'm glad they're reading the writeups. In mine I elaborated on the potential balance and well-roundedness Simon would present, as well as thanking them for essentially reviving Mega Man as a character and thus potentially reviving the series. Why mention that? Well, if it works for Mega Man, maybe it'll help revive Castlevania out of the pachislot-mobile pit of mediocrity it's falling into.

That's what I was thinking. The ballot does request you vote only once, and everyone in the world (I'm sure) knows that many people will at least vote a few times (whether voting for a few different ideas, or a few votes for one ideas), and some will spam their idea. I wondered if Nintendo would (if there even was some way for them to) watch for this to either ignore spammers, or ensure they actually received only one vote per person/household/whatever.

I don't think any character has a more obvious move set than Simon. We really need to get people on board with this... if you have any friends that don't know who to vote for, make sure to nudge them in the right direction.

Simon has been my number one newcomer choice for quite some time. I wouldn't be surprised if he had both his barbarian and Chronicles looks. Barbarian with three alternate colors and Chronicles with three alternate colors. The colors could even reference other designs and Belmonts. Barbarian's green color being based on Haunted Castle, for example.

Definitely would buy a Simon Amiibo...if I could get my hands on it. I was definitely gonna buy a few others too, but they sell out so dang quick anymore, and I just don't have the money to shell out the often outrageous prices online.
You can believe I'd be in GameStop (or wherever) every freakin' day though to try and ensure my purchase of one!

Did my duty and voted for Simon. Appealed to the nostalgia factor with Castlevania being a defining title for the NES. And the thought of a Simon Amiibo? I mean, daaaaamn I'd buy a couple.

Ok, for the sake of the series and this forum I personally pulled myself up out of bed and out of the old age home (for gamers over 40) and voted. Don't why I felt it necessary to leave the place I could have easily just stayed there. For that matter why am I telling you this especially when I could be watching Matlo..... um Murder She Wro.... uh Quincy yeah Quincy that's it. Or was it the Golden Girls? That Betty White, even Simon would have a problem with that tough old broad.
So Simon is running for office good for him.
Anyway Simon Eyes Her and wished he hadn't.

I voted for Shovel Knight. Not that he would actually get put in but I believe that a new and fresh indie character would be nice to see. Though Bat Puncher would be interesting too.

It would be cool if Simon's alternate colors were the different styles he's been over the years. Kind of like what they did with Bowser Jr. by making the other Koopa Kids his alternates.

Yeah any religious themes would be removed or altered in some way. Also I've also thought having all the Simon's as alts would be cool. One could be Belmont the barbarian, the other could be pretty boy Belmont, or even heck MoF Simon. Though if I had it my way it would just be Belmont with each alt being a different Belmont.

1. A giant textbox appears reading "WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE"; The background turns darker, Monster Dance starts to play, and everyone takes triple damage from Simon and are slowed down for as long as the Final Smash lasts.
2. Simon throws Dracula's remains in the ground, making them burn. From inside the fire, Dracula's second from from CVI jumps out and starts spitting fire against the fighters and stomping on the stage, causing heaving knock-off and damage. (this idea came from another person from the FB group, in fact).

Ugh...that really does suck. There's some comfort in the fact that it's only Reddit people...but with Belmont so low on the list, it really isn't much hope.
Is the poll still up? Should we break the suggested rule and go vote some more?

Some of the characters on the list make no sense. Abraham Lincoln? Korra? Shrek? WTF? And please, enough with the fucking Mario characters. I realize that its the big N's mascot and I love the character, but there's way too many in each game. Cut it down to two or three. Same thing with Pokemon. I like obscure characters that are brought out like Little Mac, Duck Hunt, and Ice Climbers, but you use less character slots when you keep pulling from the same series.

I think I agree for the most part. I think the original cast of characters should be permanent fixtures. Beyond them, there are a host of good additions from various games/series worth keeping, and a host of cuts I wish they'd make.

I second this. Give them their own game.
I can't stand Pokemon. People in elementary school would never shut up about those damn cards. Made me glad when that trend died down. I wish it would disappear altogether.

Pokemon won't die. It can't die. Too many existing fans and upcoming ones.
Unless you pin your hopes that Game Freak dries out of ideas since Pokemon illustrations and abilities have bordered on the ridiculous recently.

While it's not Castlevania it is Smash related but there as been a possible leak of Roy from Fire Emblem and Ryu from Street Fighter coming to Smash

Who's this Isaac character that everyone is voting for?
Simon Belmont being so low in that Reddit poll is really disheartening. To me it's the most obvious possible choice ever. Why would Nintendo NOT try to get Simon in? After already partnering with Capcom and Namco, it just feels weird that Konami isn't involved again. They were probably the biggest third party company on the NES, along with Capcom and Taito/Natsume.
And oh yeah, no more Pokémon characters please. Even if they are very different characters, they all have the same vibe to me, as someone who's never cared about Pokémon, being a bit too old to have been a part of that craze (played the first game when it came out, but already then it felt designed completely for kids and just wasn't appealing)
