Keeping in mind we're little more than a week past April Fools Day, I stumbled across this article today: http://gamerant.com/metal-gear-solid-5-boycott-kojima-fire/. (http://gamerant.com/metal-gear-solid-5-boycott-kojima-fire/.) If the rumors are true, Konami has fired Kojima, committing a collective career suicide in the process. It wouldn't be the first poor decision they've made in recent years, but it might be the worst. Maybe they're looking to get out of the big budget game market, focusing instead on mobile games. I can't think of any other reason they would do this...

There's enough corroborating evidence that I'm willing to bet Konami did something stupid.
On the flip side, Kojima is notorious for trolling fans and drumming up controversy. However, I'll keep working under the assumption that Konami did fire Kojima (despite their wording to make it seem like a mutual deal). Kojima will be fine with whichever company manages to snipe him, he's a brand name now and has been one of the most influential (I'd argue the most, but that's not here or now) people involved with gaming in the past 18 years.

I'd heard rumblings about this well before April Fools. I imagine the exchange went something like this "Kojima: I'm tired of making Metal Gear games. This is the last one I'm going to work on." "Konami: Too bad, keep making them or you can find another job." "Kojima: Ok."

Maybe he just didn't feel like revealing where Paz's second bomb was.

With the amount of outright stupid decisions Konami has made of the past decade, I wouldn't even be surprised if they did fire him.
But we wont know the details and it's a very small chance that this could all be a joke by Kojima but we wont really know untill TPP is out and Kojima is actually gone from Konami later in December.

Kojima could just as easily just not even work under a company. Just run to Kickstarter like Keiji Inafune did and that's a done deal. No Konami or any other company needed.

First Castlevania, now Metal Gear. What else does Konami have? Those shitty hentai Gradius games?

He played them like a damn fiddle too many times.
It seems like a deal gone south. Konami doesn't care much of the gaming division and probably the plans they had for KojiPro wasn't acceptable to Kojima or his team.

So a quick update (http://nichegamer.com/2015/04/metal-gear-solid-voice-actress-hideo-kojima-was-fired-by-konami/).
Looks like he's still under Konami contract until MGS5:TPP is out and working on that game. Like Kingshango pointed out, we'll probably have to wait until the end of the year to see where things go for Konami and KojiPro.

I for one do like Sexy Parodius. But I wish CV would return to its former glory.
