Title: Cuphead
Post by: Abnormal Freak on June 17, 2015, 01:27:38 AM
Oh my goooodneeeess, this looks like so much fun.
Not only does it look like a well-made run and gun game but the graphics are some of the coolest I've ever seen in a video game. Makes ya wonder why we haven't seen lush '30s Hollywood style animation in a video game before.
Coming out for Xbox One and PC.

This needs to be released on EVERYTHING. This is what 2D action games can be.

If only was an platformer. It's just, basically a series of boss battles that look beautiful as hell!
Sad that Microsoft has said that they've got the rights to the game forever. It's never going to appear on PS4. Still, I'd hope it inspires other indie devs to dabble in a similar style. Hell, I'd kill for a licensed Popeye game that looks like this(like you're playing an actual Popeye cartoon).

My understanding is that it isn't just a boss rush. It's just that they chose to only show off bosses in this e3 demo.

Platformers (or sidescrollers, period) nowadays sport more unique art directions than any other genre. I'm adding it to my most unique list:
Most Unique Art Directions: (limited to my steam library) Cuphead Tengami Apotheon Child of Light Dustforce Dust: An Elysian Tale Guacamelee Ibb & Obb Ori and the Blind forest Pixel Junk Eden Secrets of Raekiton South Park: Stick of Truth

Apart from Ori, this is the first game I REALLY want on Xbone. Still not enough to make me consider buying the console though, but keep 'em coming and we can talk.

Honestly, get a gaming PC. Sales, Emulation, DosBox + Sourceports, and being able to do everything else is worth it. I'll wait to see where this Backward compatibility thing is going before considering it, I have one and.... Have only clocked about 3 hours on it.

Yeah, I know. I'm trying to get used to the idea of actually maybe becoming a PC gamer again. I used to be back in the mid 90's.
Oh, there's another Xbone game I want: Beyond Eyes.
But yeah. PC too.

Not gonna lie, My Xbox One purchase will be justified once Kingdom Hearts 3 hits, Re-core looks nice, and once I get to play at lease all my XBLA games on it it'll all be good, and Tomb Raider looks nice, Once I get the time I'll play some DmC : Definitive to kill the time.
Long story short, You can't go on this gen of gaming without at least 2 platforms

I am 100% interested simply because of the art style. Looks fun on top of that.
