Title: Which Castlevania Game(s) Are You Most Skilled At?

For me, I find Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse to be the easiest one to play, despite its very challenging nature. It's funny that I can play through that game with ease, and yet I get owned easily in Castlevania and the later levels of Super Castlevania IV -- not to say that they're cakewalks, but I just never liked the controls on those games as much as the third installment.

I'm probably the worst at Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, though, because of how badly done the adventure RPG concept was applied.

I think I'm skilled at Aria of Sorrow. I can pick it up anytime and finish easily since I have the castle map stuck in my brain.

Castlevania Chronicles, Arranged mode. I'd tackle the harder Original Mode but I'm lazy and too easily distracted.

Castlevania Chronicles PS1 (JP/JP-PSN version)
Some additional points like the bats in block 8-2 and Medusa Boss invulnerable glitch fix in western versions are actually a painful experience for me, but I eventually get through Original mode for 10+ loops in Western version and 40+ loops in JP version

The game just has so much magic power that attracted me, made it THE all-time favorite for me in a long time, until I acknowledged the presence of Rosenkreuzstilette series

When it announced to be available in JP PS STORE last year, I was so happy that I screamed for 5 minutes. Then there are DIFFERENCE in JP PSN version that make my lone journey worthy. I'm so happy that they fixed most of the glitches, but in dark-side, damn! The Medusa Boss invincibility also fixed thus make a more difficult battle than I remembered earlier, but for overall experience I really enjoyed the game, for my past, for now and forever.

EDIT: Found my progress, it has issues loading with Psxjin emulator (I played mainly on the PSP with custom ROM) and I can't remember the exact number how many loops I get through in the past 3 years

I'd have to say SotN or RoB. I can beat SotN with full map coverage in about a day or two. I have everything in RoB memorized, which makes for an easy playthrough with Maria.

I'd say I'm the worst at Bloodlines.

I don't have to worry about mad skillz when playing a Metroidvania as those titles don't require a whole lot of practice to play. Castlevania II and Super Castlevania IV I've played the most. I can go back to any of these and rock 'em. Castlevania Dracula X for the SNES would be a close second. I've played it a lot as well but not really enough to ingrain it as I did with the others. Same with CV III for that matter. CV I even less as stage 4 is either do or die for me.

If difficulty is included then in terms of Igavania I'd say OOE>POR/AOS

For classic I'd have to say XX/CVLOD>CV1

@Ace Apparently in the Japanese version you can use sub weapons to break blocks, whereas you can't in the western version.

@zangetsu Yes, and the different hit detection of cross/knife. In Block 3 boss fight, when the fight begins one can jump at the top of two short pillars, throw a knife/cross to the boss at highest position, and the knife/cross will get him, in English versions the trick doesn't work
JP PSN version still applies the trick, but the hit detection when using subweapons against fake walls had been fixed, like English versions

Btw after 3 years I played it last night and got up to level 13, the clocktower. Have never been able to beat the boss so I'm going to give it a crack again!

Same deal for me when I first played the game. The only reason I got so good at it was because I loved it so much I just could not stop playing it.

I must say in all but its not like im saying im a pro, its just because all the Castlevania plays similar to the other or most, for me all the olds Castlevania have the same rules so its easy to know what to do and dont do and the same goes for the new or metroidvanias, and when some game its easy to play i like to make chalenge for example fight with the headhunter in AoS but with low level and with the inicial weapons, it was hard but after a lot of try i manage to do that, the same goes for the zombie dragon in CotM i 1st think it was impossible to beat in low level but i make it.
  Perhaps the game i have more trouble its the 3D games but for the sidescroll castlevania im good in all or at least is hard to say in which im most skilled, i think its better to ask a friend that see me playing that games.

I'm not great at SCVIV either. I feel like Simon's movement is awkward and I dislike a button based subweapon as opposed to the ^+whip input.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I wish that game allowed to toggle certain options on and off, such as having to push up or down to climb a staircase. I also set the A button as the secondary weapon trigger.

That's cool, it should have more options. I'd like to use R for subweapons if possible. Multidirectional whipping is cool, but I much prefer the gameplay of CV Chronicles.

You can. It's selectable in the options menu.

Getting better at Chronicles at the moment. After a long hiatus of stopping at the clock tower I'm up to Death and nearly beat him last night.

CotM for me. Pretty nasty with just a whip on that game. Even beat it using Martial arts  ;D

Harmony of Despair was also one of my favorites. Haven't been on that in a while but I was pretty savage with Ric and Jonathan. If only i wasn't too lazy to hook up the PS3 again.

I'll admit, I still haven't had a go at Albus mode. One day...

I am pretty good at Lords of shadow, Super, Legacy of darkness/64, I was able to beat DCX and rondo with out dying and not getting hit since I remember you get a one up at the end.

I do have some video proof for LOS and super for those that have not seen my playstyle.

Actually I'd have to throw in OOE if not already. Re-starting the game (with Shanoa) on Hard Max L01 without keeping previous weapons/ items only to find the "Dracula Medal" upon restarting that file, just outside of the boss room. This was without using Dominus or glyph-union based attacks; strikes or magic. (Glyph union was only used for evading one attack in order to get damage free frames). This was pretty damn rewarding and unexpected. There were a few other boss fights that saw this too.

Hell I would say that beating Blackmoore and Eligor on this mode with Shanoa and Albus was pleasing to say the least, they among all other bosses were not attacked using Dominus.
