Title: Here's a piece about the Vita I wrote for GameSkinny back in April
Post by: Lumi Kløvstad on August 07, 2015, 01:09:02 AM
Tangentially related to Castlevania, too. (http://www.gameskinny.com/lxdqf/franchise-imports-the-ps-vita-desperately-needs-and-who-need-the-vita#.VSes-k7V9gg.wordpress)

I had to start thinking about what would get me back on my PS Vita, and what sort of games would I like for it? What would be likable for me, but stand a chance at selling actual copies?

Behold my list, then discuss, and post your own.

I mainly bought my PS Vita because of Ys: Memories of Celceta--a reimagining of Ys IV: Mask of the Sun (big mistake Falcom!). As you can guess I was strongly disappointed in the game and since it was the only one I had my Vita just sat around and started to collect dust. But i did pick it up again one day and started to scroll through the PS network for some other titles I could download onto the system. Now my current library consists of these titles;

Aeternoblade- an interesting game of norse mythology with an anime story/artistic twist.

Ragnarock Odyssey ACE- I've barely played through this game but was still enticed by it.

The Dracula X Chronicles of course  ;)

Shock Troopers- to my knowledge this title was an Arcade game, Neo-Geo, or even a Turbo duo title. I can't be sure. But it's a good ol' fashioned top-down shoot 'em up (kinda like Super Contra) with lot's of challenge.

Brandish: The Dark Revenant- Finally! Been out in Japan's PSP market for over four years I believe. Now it's been translated and put on the PS network. I'm still waiting for the other sequels Falcom! Brandish's II and III to be specific.

Muramasa ReBirth- Y'all know this one from the Wii days.

Suikoden- A J-Rpg from the PS1 days. The concept was interesting so I picked it up too. Although I think it's still a bit buggy.

Broken Sword 5 and Broken Sword 5: episode 2.- Loved playing the first game and have been a fan of the series since. Sadly Broken Sword's II, III, and IV are still out of reach and it would be beneficial to the PS Vita to have them on the list as well.

Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection.- Got it, worth it.

Final Fantasy V- Just cause.

Final Fantasy VI- Same as above. Just cause.

Final Fantasy IX- It's the only latter half of the series that interests me the most as it's similar to the original games' style.

I have heard that the two PSP Final Fantasy games' I and II: Dawn of Souls is to be ported over to the PS network sometime. Don't know when though. But they'll be added to my Vita library when they are available.

I bought PSV mainly because JP-PSN version of CV Chronicles launched last year. ^o^ And it HAS some difference and I felt more satisfied than any other moment in my life. Who can thought, for the game, the staff would make some difference there! Just for THE PSN revision! Over 10 years ago!

Other game titles I picked up won't have such surprise like this.

CV titles, Dracula X chronicles and the standalone original version of SotN: Why not

PS revision of Rockman (Mega Man) 1-6: Identical to the ROM images on the Internet. Bought these because of the strong will and desire to Mega Man franchise. But not beat them all, because 5 and 6 are too much for my realize power

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (BOTH JP/US PSN region):Same as above. I really like the English version opening song (The God-like song used for the OP demo, not title screen) and this is the reason I bought the versions for BOTH regions. English Voice acting is full of active energy, unlike JP version that Dr. Light acted really like an old man waiting for his death

Mega Man Powered UP (JP): Same as above, but more like JP version VA for this title

Gal*Gun: Gathered this because it's a new Inti Creates product now, though I'm not actually start to play yet.
I'm not interested in the too complex and random system in it, and the overall playing style that a lot of anime-style girls are yapping about something annoying, explained in the manual of download version, so I'm not looking good at the result
EDIT: Damn. It's a first-personal game and need touch control to touch the annoying girls or something, and very difficult to control, and there are LOTS of dialogue just like those visual novels in independence factories. The music made my brain pain. Damn.

Out of curiosity, did anyone actually READ my article? Because these replies are soooo off-topic.

Well I did answer according to what I read. Whether or not I failed to understand what I was reading is all in the eye of the beholder, or some-such thing. You talked about how the Vita's potential is not being fully recognized by SONY itself. That and seems to be such a waste considering how powerful the system itself is. I got all this on the first read-through dude.

His article is talking about what kind of games the system NEEDS, rather than what it already has. That's what he meant by everyone being off-topic.

Couldn't have said it better, CS. I was going to write a response, but I couldn't figure out wording that avoided sounding like a dick to people, so I kept my trap shut instead.

So yeah. What CS said.
