Hello hello, my beloved Dungeonites <3 This might be a somewhat self-indulgent thread, and one that doesn't seem related to Castlevania or the CVD at first, but I thought I might as well say it somewhere.
See, I just finished what is essentially my magnum opus--the Fire Emblem fanfiction "Wayward Son," about Renault. You can check it out here:
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3133712/83/Wayward-Son (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/3133712/83/Wayward-Son)
And as nerdy as it may sound, I also commissioned an excellent artist (databunny.tumblr.com) to draw some scenes from Wayward Son for me, which I then set to what I thought was fitting music (Itsumo Anata Ga, the ED for the Armored Trooper VOTOMs TV anime), and then added credits to everyone who helped me in my endeavor. So I essentially made sort of a little anime ED! Check it out:

Now, as you'll notice, some names from the CVD pop up there, as well as everyone here generally! let me explain why.
Even though it's a Fire Emblem fic, Wayward Son is also a story about love. And virtue, and friendship, and community. So in that sense, everyone in my life who's shown me friendship, or taught me how to be virtuous, or helped me contribute positively to a community, has had a hand in my "magnum opus." I've learned so much about so many things at the CV Dungeon, and it's a point of great pride for me to be able to contribute to this place's well-being. Were it not for the discussions of religion, art, and general virtue I had here, Wayward Son would have been greatly impoverished, since the story also deals heavily with religion and virtue. So I wanted to thank you, all of you at the CV Dungeon, Jorge, Uzo, Shirou Koumori, everybody, for giving me your support and friendship over the years, and sustaining me as I completed this huge project.
And really...that's pretty much the only important thing you need take away from this! I've mentioned at other places that this story is my swan song for the Fire Emblem fandom. I haven't been as interested in those games for a while, even though I love the people there--maybe I'll come back if one of the new FE games *really* catches my eye XD However, I'm not leaving the Internet entirely, far from it! I also told everybody at the FE forums that I'm at the CV Dungeon and Bloodstained communities now. So don't you dare think I'm leaving this place or anything like that, quite the opposite! You can expect to see a whole lot more of me from here on out ;D

Holy Macaroni, 83 chapters??!! :o
That's a novel, and quite a long one at that.
I envy you. I am at the moment writing my own magnum opus, which is original sci-fi.
But I only reached the fourth chapter till now. Writing is hard. :P
-
It is, but it's worth it, from what I've found. Good luck with your novel :D
-
1 million words eh? No-doubt you've surpassed me. The largest story I've ever written only goes up to 22 chapters. But even then that was difficult. Especially when you've got things like writer's block impeding your progress :P
Congratz on you fanfic- er novel..? I guess?
-
Thanks, X :D
-
Damn, 1 Million words???
Make sure you back it up onto 10 external devices!! Congrats Gulord.

I have to wonder just how many pages 1 million words fills out. Gunlord's gonna need a lot of paper if he does decide to print them off :o
-
Haha, yeah, I probably will XD I backed it up on Archive of Our Own too, just to be safe :D
-
Dang! 1 million words! Wow! :o
Thanks for the mention, prunyuuu~
That means we would see more on you here and I wonder how many words will your finished dissertation be....
-
Haha, my dissertation would probably be anywhere from 100,000 to 200,000 words total XD

Nice! :) I will wait for the day when it would be published.

Seconding this. It'll be painful, I bet, to check. Wel done, still, Gunlord! :D
I still remember the pain of having to print off three copies of my last thesis. 211 pages start to finish. *Shudders* Having printer issues that day as well was not fun.
-
Thanks, TatteredSeraph :D I've thought of having it all printed out as a nice hardcover book (getting myself to a bookbinder to do the job, of course) and yeah, it would be pretty damn huge XD

Seeing your own work printed out and bound in hardback is really satisfying. If you do end up doing this, please post piccies.

Here's a little bit of author's notes for my story:
