Yes tomorrow will be a great day indeed! Hope to see you xbox 360 owners online!
-
Pfeh. I have to work the midnight launch. 7pm-3am. Getting the game for my brother. Not gonna touch it myself. Never been a Halo Fan.
-
lol Halo. I'll stick to Goldeneye ::)
-
I've never even played Halo.
-
Halo = overrated FPS. I hope MC die in this one.

Nvm.. Not gonna get in trouble for posting spoilers. ;D
-
I already have it. It's pretty cool. The storyline doesn't really pick up till halfway through the game though.
Matchmaking, which just started today, is awesome, so are saved films and Forge.

I highly doubt the game is bad, it got amazing reviews...

People are so funny... they hate Halo for being popular. Halo is by far the most fun game to play with friends. 90% of the people who bash it have never even played it, or just played it once or twice.
Halo is not over rated at all. Games that aren't great don't become as huge as Halo. Maybe they can become big, but you can't reach Halo level without an insane amount of quality. It changed the face of FPS's forever.
-
I think Halo is overrated... but not by much. As for multiplayer fun... I think Golden Eye is funner. Then again, I don't play multiplayer that much and thats what people claim to be uberly awesome.
-
Just beat it. Ending is pretty good, as long as you stay after the credits (don't press any buttons on the credit screen, just wait).
-
I've never played Halo.
But since I'm now a 360 owner and this game is EVERYFUCKIN'WHERE, I'm thinking of actually picking it up. My number one problem is that I suck - I repeat - SUCK at FPS. It might have something to do with me not having played an awful lot of FPS.
I wonder if this will be a good place to start, or is it hardcore FPS players only?
-
I've never even played Halo.
Same here. Though my cousin just got it for his birthday, gave it a run and is pretty nice.
I'll just stick to my battlefield 2 though, until or if I ever get a 360, been playing that game forever. :o

Thats exactly right. Halo may be overrated to some but its THE fps to beat if your tryin to be an fps developer. It has set and keeps setting the mark so high for other fps' it cant be beat. It has absolutely zero to do with the story or the characters or the single player aspect and everything to do with the multiplayer. That is and has been the focus of the series since its inception: the best multiplayer fps experience possible. And it succeeds.
And no Im not a fanboy. Ive never even owned a Halo game (I dont even own either xbox) I only play them with friends at big get togethers and if your playing Halo with 3 or 4 friends split screen either co op or not your having a good time, end of chat.
-
What a breath of fresh air! I never understand the white hot anger flung at Halo. Yeah it's not the best thing ever but it's fun as hell.
-

Halo on casual mode is one of the best ways to start learning how to master the FPS.
I play on Heroic (Hard), myself, but everyone has their favorite setting.
For Co-Op, though, Legendary is the way to go...although you gotta make sure that you don't die, and also that your teammate doesn't die, because if one dies, its back to the Checkpoint.

This website belongs to the best Halo player in the country. He is nine years old, and this proves how broken the gameplay mechanics of Halo is. This child isn't even old enough to be playing this game! I have played both Halo 1 and 2, Halo 1 is good, but Halo 2 sucks my stinger missle laucher.
What people don't realize is Halo is just a typical run of the mill first person shooter with online play that has prepubescent idiots, and "wigger" kids playing it.

Because, you know, he isn't just a great gamer, or something...
-
What if counter-strike was in halo's shoes?
Wouldn't that game be overrated as well?
SO if halo was to actually be released on the pc wouldn't it's butt be kicked since the pc has a whole bunch of those fpses out there?
-
In Reply To #20
Just because there are some people online that may be retarded doesnt make the the game bad as a whole. There is going to be people you dont like on ANY online game.

Wow... you are really really angry about people liking Halo alot... You might want to look into getting some help with that... ;)

Actually its not a flaw of Halos game mechanics but more like that lil kid is the perfect balance of natural talent lots of time spent and simply being younger than all his competition. Its a known fact that all human reaction times slow as you age so him being that young gives him a natural advantage outside of any skill he might have.

Cheer up! When you turn 80, and all your teeth fall out, you can have all the ice cream you want, I think.
-
It's not that im angry about it, it's just that no game deserves this much hype. Halo is far from revolutionary.
I finally got a chance to play the game today, and I can honestly say it's the same crap I played a few years ago in Halo 2. Metroid Prime 3 has waaaay better graphics, Halo 3 has a piss poor physics system too. I also see that they left that cute little auto-aim feature in the game for all the kiddies to enjoy! ;D
It's fun at times yeah, but this game is nothing special.
Like I said.. Goldeneye!
-
In Reply To #26
What are you talking about auto-aim? There's only semi-auto aiming, and its pretty much a necessity these days for console shooters.
-
I've played a decent amount of multiplayer in the first two Halos, and a the first 2-3 levels in each too. I really just can't get into it. I find multiplayer in Goldeneye, Timesplitters 2, and classic Doom much more fun. But I do adore Halo's predecessor series, Marathon. Those games were absolutely phenomenal from a storytelling, level design, and atmospherics standpoint. Shame only 0.1% of Halo fanatics have ever given Marathon a chance, especially considering just how similar the two series are.
Someday I'll pick up an Xbox and play through the first two Halos. I really do want to know what the big deal is.

Saying that Halo 3 has worse graphics than the newest metroid is just a LIE. It makes the rest of your post seem bias and stupid. SO does your ridiculous anger level.
Games don't get to Halo level without being revolutionary. Peer. E. Ud.

Halo 3 has auto aim? wtf? Did 1 and 2 have it? Cuz I didn't really notice anything like that. Unless you're talkin about locking on when you move onto thema bit, then thats fine with me.
As for Graphics, I don't see how it can be worst than Metroid Prime 3, though I do admit MP3 does look hella good. I just don't see how that could be.

I don't have a 360. And I only have Halo 1 on PC. You can call me a fanboy... but I'm really not. You're just being crazy. You hate Halo for being popular. I bet you hate myspace and modern rock, don't you?
-
In Reply To #33
Well aren't we getting worked up? And you're right. I am crazy. I don't hate Halo, I just think it doesn't deserve so much hype. And no, I think myspace is pretty cool, in fact Undying Legacy is using myspace to promote, but isn't ready for public viewing yet, and I like some modern rock. So HAH!
-
I honestly dont understand the hype. I dont hate the games but I dont like them that much either. Ive played through the first two games on legendary and it was just too boring, not a very good story which seems to be used alot, even the multiplayer was uninteresting for me. It just seems like any old generic alien shooter. I still to this day think Doom, F.E.A.R., Bioshock, Painkiller, Goldeneye 007, and Serious Sam first and second encounter are all better than halo.
Most halo fans dont like me all because Ive trashed all three games on the release. First Halo I bought the day it came out, took it to school and burnt it with a lighter in front of the fans. Did the same for Halo 2. Halo 3 I waited at the walmart I work at, bought the game, cheered like I was the happiest I ever was. Slammed the game down on the ground and stomped on the game about 10 times with the steel-toed boots I had on. Every game was worth the wait and money I spent. You know a true fan boy when you see people cry over a game they love being destroyed....
-
With Halo, it seems that you can either love it or hate it, nowhere in between.
Atleast that's the general impression I see everywhere I go.
-

I own both games, and that is by far the worst lie I ever heard someone say in the history of this board. That's like saying Sonic the Hedgehog had better graphics than Super Mario 64.
-
If you think the Metroid Prime 3 has better graphics then Halo 3 you must be smoking something really good LOL.
-
I think you guys are interpreting Rugal the wrong way. Obviously in terms of technical prowess Halo 3 blows Prime 3 away, but you could argue it the other way in terms of artistic direction. Metroid has a very distinct and attractive artistic direction, while I couldn't say the same about Halo.
*Anti-halo fanboyism*
I think the bigger fanboy is the one who spends money on something just to destroy it. Sure it's ok not to like the game but doing stuff like that is just a little sad.

Everyone has there own opinion on what is great entertainment. Your version of a fanboy is rather new to me. Ive never heard of it being that way, unless of course thats just your opinion of one.

Wow, you're an idiot. You obviously hate each game before you play them. Thanks for proving my point there tardo.
-

Just read your post. Yeah, you must feel really accopmlished about destroying those Halo games. You really effected the fans that just think you're a fool, and are probably too busy enjoying the game to care what you did with $160.

That's cool. There isn't like a charity or something that could have used your money if you didn't want it, or anything...

I'm getting the feeling this guy is like 9 years old, and making all this up.
-
I like Halo. I've got 1 and 2 and still counting pennies for 3. No it's not revolutionary; it does nothing that other games haven
-
Halo may be overrated (it doesnt hold a candle to half-life or, in my opinion, the original turok.) but its a good game. (and infinitely better with friends...in person, not Live.
Also...i must admit the "Believe" ad campaign was rather effective and much better than what a "finish the fight" campaign would have been.

no offense but i don't care for halo at all >:(

It would have been nice to have seen a little explanation from him anyways? >_> Oh well. <_<
Btw, I wonder if today marked the day of the most sick days ever! ;D
My cousin took today off anyways for Halo 3. : P

Well, Monday marked the day of the highest grossing entertainment item in one day: Halo 3, with $170 million...but thats just the US total.
-
In Reply To #45
I hear that. I tend to give some more credit to people than they deserve.
Also, WTF, DOUBLE POSTING POSSIBLE!!
do not ban me please i did not noe ???
-

Yeah we have edit buttons though. Just keep an eye on it and try to get used to the new system.
As for the launch... eh, I took the day off from the 25th but not cuz I wanted to play Halo (never touched the game ever). Sleep was much needed. 12 hours of sleep FTW.
Also, guys, watch it with the name calling and insult exchanges.

Saving and sharing movies multiplies the fun factor by about ten billion. You can download a movie from your friend while they are offline(!), and move and pan the camera around the entire stage during the clip, follow any of the characters you choose, zoom in and out, etc. It is fantastic. The game saves a recording of each match you play (I think it stores the last 15 matches or so), so if you hit an amazing headshot or something, you just load the video of that match afterwards, find that particular moment, and save your clip. You can then upload your clips (or screenshots, or game variants, or whatever) to your shared folder so your friends can download them whether you're online or not. Very slick for a console game, I think.

Here you go. This guy pretty much explains the whole Halo situation.
-
In Reply To #55
Oh boy, someone that took a game and completely emphasized its weaker points. That proves everything about this "situation" where around 4 million gamers are having fun, mixed in with a small minority that just simply can't let that happen.
-

You wanna play a game where we post a positive review for every negative one you do? Seriously... how do you think that would turn out?
-
That guy clearly states that Halo 3 isn't a bad game. He also states that it is no where near perfect, like all the game reviewers have been claiming. And he is very accurate when he states it's run of the mill, and has been done before but even better *Cough* BIOSHOCK *Cough HACK*. :D
-
In Reply To #58
I never said that he said it was a bad game, I said he emphasized it's weaker aspects, which, in fact, he did.
-
That guy brings out the bad out of lots of things. He also has a Bioshock and such reviews.
Only one he went out of his way to claim good and that was Psychonauts.
-
In Reply To #60
Psychonauts is a damn awesome game someone needs to mention it in the underrated games thread.
-
lord...no one has EVER said Halo3 is perfect. Even Official Xbawks Magazine said in issue #76:

....and Portal. Meh I like Halo and I think 3 is by the best in the series. The campaign is good fun with some really memorable moments and the introduction of equipment can make multi player a tactical experience. A lot of imbalances in weapons were fixed too, this prevents one side form dominating the other. The only thing I can complain about is XBLs piss poor community.
