Title: What Character/Real Person Would You've Liked To See In Castlevania?
Post by: theplottwist on February 16, 2016, 04:01:57 PM
Pretty self-explanatory.

Characters and people I'd have liked to see introduced in Castlevania:

Sherlock Holmes:
Dunno exactly why, but I find his character very compelling. Some of his stories include him debunking a supernatural thing and solving the case (like in Scooby-Doo). I think it'd be cool to see how would Sherlock react to the Dracula legend.

Nazis:
With WWII as it's background, PoR was an AMAZING opportunity to introduce a Nazi element as a villainous party. It could be an original character, even. No need to even mention Hitler.

With rumors of the Nazis conducting supernatural experiments, it would be nice to see a Nazi party going after Dracula's powers to win the war and possibly take over the world (and end up wiped out by Dracula himself after noticing the Dark Lord is nobody's pal).

Bram Stoker:
Obviously. The potential for nice writting here is stupendous, but I've already seen stories where Bram Stoker actually witnessed Dracula and wrote about him as a fictious character, and... It didn't turn out very nice.

The premisse is good, though, so I'd be happy to see it executed nicely.

Van Helsing:
Obviously².

More interesting would be imply that Van Helsing is actually related to the Belmonts somehow.

Rasputin:
No real reason beyond "Rasputin is freaking cool."

Oda nobunaga:
It'd be nice to introduce him as a pretender to the Demon King position, because he DID call himself "Demon King" after all.

Maybe he could've been turned into a vampire by selling his soul on his downfall at the Honnoji Temple, and now is seeking to overthrow Dracula? Maybe he did die, and had his soul enslaved by Dracula, only to find a way to rebel? Many interesting possibilities here.

All excellent! Tons of potential there! I feel like they might have to go Bartley, where they're based on a real figure but to keep it a bit more immersive they changer them appropriately to keep the immersion, but I'd love a Bram Stoker plot point!

I'd kinda like to see Doctor Victor Frankenstein, but I feel like it'd be too forced and goofy to see him before you fight the creature tbh, I just have fond memories of reading the Great Illustrated Classics print of Frankenstein in middle school. Lol reminds me of that Frankenstein CV style game for the NES.

I can only think of horrible choices, or comical ones really... Like, Alice Cooper or Ozzy Osbourne. Or even the god damn Addams Family. Though that would actually be awesome, but the tone of the game had to be incredibly cheesy.

I only wanted to see IGA in Castlevania. And we'll be granted that in Bloodstained. hahaha.

Bea Arthur as Bram Stoker's Dracula

I was wondering if/how Castlevania was going to reconcile Dracula with the real Vlad Tepes and Matthias Corvinus. Maybe show it in a "Rise of Dracula" game like some here have suggested.

Sherlock Holmes

I wouldn't have minded a throwaway line/sly reference about a "Baker Street detective" in a hypothetical Bram Stoker's Castlevania.

Quote
Nazis

It's what I wanted for POR. Failing that, it's what I wanted in a POR follow-up.

Quote
Van Helsing

I'd prefer him being part of a different vampire hunting family that's famous in its own right. He could be Quincey's mentor in an 1897 game and host its tutorial.

I don't think I've ever considered such a notion as this...
...
...
...I dunno...Dr. Who?

Indiana Jones, only because of a old Graham Jones joke that I did. Konami Man and some known writer or director would be fun too, like "Wow, I really need to do a movie about Dracula after all of this".

Dracula.
Dohohoho

no but seriously. while the Matthias thing was nice, I find the ACTUAL historical Vlad was actually just a mite more badass. And you can still do the whole betray Leon thing with that

For some reason I would want to see a hypothetical story where Chirstopher Lee has to fight Dracula.

The man with the golden Whip vs Dracula... Or Dracula vs Deacula makes more sense ;D Chris Lee was a legend. Rest in peace, Mr. Lee, and thank you for some terrific entertainment throughout the years!

Characters?

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the classics of horror being brought into the series and given actual characterization and plot importance.

Doctor Moreau and his various experiments with human animal hybrids could easily fit into Dracula's forces as a 'monster maker for him.  I can also picture a tortured Dr. Frankenstein locked in the dungeon somewhere being forced to pout together Frankenstein after Frankenstein for Drac.

Griffin the original Invisible Man was also a nicely done over the top psychopath with delusions of grandeur in the original story if you've ever read it.

Also, I'd like the Headless Horseman brought in.  If done properly a horseback battle against him could be suitably awesome.  (Especially if you give him the ability to chop off your characters head as a finishing move.

For real people?

How about bringing in the real Dracula's traitorous brother Radu the Handsome?  Give him his own source of evil; powers and it almost writes itself.

Doctor Caligari, Cabinet optional.

Lovecraftian entities other than Cthulhu, i.e. Hastur or Nyarlathotep.

Radu cel Frumos for once.

Uhhhhhh...Hellboy would be interesting.

Kinda makes me wonder how a Castlevania game would handle Matthias Corvinus (prolly will have to be called just Corvinus or King Corvinus since Matthias is already taken in CV lore).

Call me crazy but i always imagined Darth Maul in Castlevania non-canon wise,  where Maul was sent to Dracula's Castle as a mission given by his Master, Darth Sidious, Maul would face Dracula in the year 1837.

Jar-Jar Binks, I shit you not.
With a theory that Jar-Jar acts like a stumbling fool but is a Sith Lord (and the evidence that followed) it makes a bit of sense.

Why not have a Villain who plays a harmless role so well that he's the least expected person to be responsible for all the atrocities?

While not a villain, Chupacabra is pretty much exactly that in the Lords of Shadow trilogy. He's the playful goof who as it turns out is nowhere near as bumbling or childish as he appears to be.
