I propose a little game; We try to guess where did the inspiration for the username of the user above us came from. The user, then, tells us if the person got it right or wrong, and in the case its wrong, they reveal the true inspiration (if they want). Then they try to guess the username above them.
Had this idea while browsing Kinja and wondering what the hell was the inspiration behind some of those borderline-eldritch usernames.
Note: Again, if you don't want to say your username's inspiration, it's ok. But only guessers and no answerers will get this game nowhere.
EDIT: You are also NOT forced to guess the person above you, even if you explained your username. This may help the game get going because I'm silly and didn't think the rules properly.
EDIT2: Jorge D. Fuentes is not allowed to take part in this game.

Plottwist I'm going to take a punt and say you're an avid writer. Maybe for professional purposes but you also have a passion for writing fictional stories?

Correct on both accounts, but that's not why I choose the username.
One of my guiltiest pleasures is watching M. Night Shyamalan. Like, in his entire library, TWO movies is what I would consider good movies (Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense), but the rest have that strange appeal that keeps me hooked even though I know they're not good. Except "The Last Airbender". That movie is an abomination.
And, as you must have guessed, my favorite part in his movies is the plot twist. No matter how nonsensical, I love them. And My favorite character has to be the guy who identifies the devil's presence with a toast -- I consider that a tiny plot twist in itself.
So yeah, that's it :P
Now, if I guess your username, the next person will have nothing to guess. If I'm wrong, do not answer what it is, and leave this for the next guesser:
You were/are a big fan of Bleach. The number may be because you tried to create an email, but there were 467 Zangetsus before you, so you went with it and it stuck.
-
In fact you're correct.
Bleach is probably my most favourite long running anime.
Although my favourite Captain/human character is Zaraki Kenpachi, my #1 favourite character is (not Ichigo, but..) Zangetsu, his sequences always stole the show and established this darkness and eeriness whose stoic and frozen moments accelerated character development for Ichigo and gave the series another dimension imo.
468 is pretty much the same story as you've suggested. Initially I tried 123 and 456 but these were taken. Then I decided I liked even numbers better and tried 246 and 468 was available. Generally every type of gaming account I open up I use this same name as my username/ usertag. On nintendo accounts I use the same but if it's too long over either used Zangetsu46 or just Zangetsu.
-
This is fun as an idea. Shame I can't guess the inspiration for Zangetsu468's name seeing as his has already been deduced. I'm fairly sure where Shiroi's name comes from. Any guesses for my name?

Stab in the dark, but...Supernatural reference?
-
Nope. I've watched all of one episode of Supernatural (the first one), and I've been using the name online for about 15 years, so pre-dates the show a fair bit.
-
I'll take a crack, Seraph.
In Nomine?

Is it a reference to the Turin Shroud?
-
Nope. I originally used Tattered Seraphim, but that later changed to Tattered Seraph. I originally used the name in a Matrix rpg for a character I was in many, many years ago, back before even Matrix Reloaded came out and there was a similarish character in some respects in it called Seraph. 'Phimie' was a former human/machine hybrid (mostly human but with some upgrades to allow her greater mental and physical capabilities) in an earlier iteration of The Matrix (as we'd figured out before Reloaded came out), one of four of these hybrids, known as The Four Horsemen. Phimie was Death. Her name was taken from kabbahlic/Qabahlic inspiration, as a reference to the dark counterparts of the seraphim/ messengers of the Qliphoth, from the Tree of Death. Phimie was named such as a concealer of the true face of undrstanding, and the Mother / Binah of the Matrix - the Oracle. She hid the truth. Interestingly enough, it turned out that Seraph was in the films was, like Phimie, a precursor to Agents, who then went a bit rogue and turned whitehat, trying to help humans come to realise that there were multiple layers to The Matrix (as we suspected it would turn out to have). It felt rather fititng for the name to become my online handle a lot.

It was a completely unofficial Yahoo Groups thing back in the day, purely plot driven, predating even the MMO.
-
I'm fairly sure where Shiroi's name comes from.
Duh. I'm sure everyone who knows Castlevania can guess where my username comes from.
Dracula9: Likes the number 9 and attached it to Dracula, because Castlevania.

Your user name means white bat from what you've told us in the past. That, and the sprite in the little window is that of Soma's bat transformation from DoS, correct?

I bet your username has to do with you being a fan of Orson Scott Card.

Megaman X
I know its :)

Correct. But Plot's not that far off either considering what's in my thread box ;D.

Yup. :) I got the idea from AoS though. Soma's DS bat sprite looks better than the GBA counterpart, in my opinion.

I'm curious to see what people think of my username, but because I think it too easy a task for some, I'll also throw in a bonus name.
Online, I generally answer to "Lumi" and whoever correctly guesses why wins... a thing. Of a noun-ish description. Whatever the winner of this game actually gets. ;)
-
You used to go under The Bloody Rayne, but then you started reading into the finer details of CV's plot (which, to be honest, is a bit of a mess), which is I think why you started to go under Scholar instead.
As for Lumi, the first thing that comes to mind for some reason is Lumen...
Anyway, should be easy enough to figure out where mine came from. I even mentioned it a couple times in the past.
-
Originally it was Lumirockets, wasn't it? So far as I can remember you're the only one here that's changed their user name so much in such a short amount of time.
-
My name is soooooooo hard to guess

Nope. I'm gonna admit, I'll be genuinely impressed if ANYONE can guess it.

True and true. I've always shapeshifted as the mood strikes. I outgrow a name and I leave it behind.
Only "Lumi" sticks around.
-

Haha. You've changed names too.
-
Changing names is the Devil! :P
-
My name is soooooooo hard to guess
It means "dude who needs to hurry up with those contest results," right?

Waterboy reference?
-
In my 14 years here I've only changed my name once, and that was because my original name was corny as hell.
-

Ironically, your username was a factor why I changed my name from Bloody Rayne.
-

You've only been here 14 years? Since 2002? I could've sworn it was longer then that.
-
Indeed, I thought I had some fan club that got started without my knowledge. ;D
And X, no, Jan 31, 2002, is when I got started.
-
For the life of me I can't even remember when I first started here. The very first time, I might add, before the dungeon got one of its few overhauls.
-
Huh. I really thought that Bloodreign had been here longer too...just one year before I got started (posting anyway - I've been a professional lurker since October of 1997).
Anyway, anyone wanna venture a guess at my name? Like Shiroi, I openly posted my reasoning behind it a few years ago. :3
-
I thought it was your name LOL
Someone can guess mine? I highly doubt.
-
I don't suppose "Bloo" is a reference to Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends? :-P
-
Someone can guess mine? I highly doubt.
Lelygax? Yeah, I'm not gonna get this one any time soon -_-;

Your username reminds me of "Gary Gygax".

What'
Anyway, should be easy enough to figure out where mine came from. I even mentioned it a couple times in the past.
Vlad Chrono Trigger?
For mine, I don't think you even need to guess. lol
-
Nope, Vlad Cronqvist Tepes. Bro, do you even Castlevania? :V
-
Damn, I never thought of that. lol
now someone guess my name and why I chose it.
