So, the first trailer for the live action Assassin's Creed movie is out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfJVoF5ko1Y (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfJVoF5ko1Y) . What are peoples' thoughts so far? I'm quite liking the look of it actually, and the glimpses of the Animus seem interesting - the rig where your body actually moves as you see the simulation? That looks pretty cool. I think it migth not totally suck. It's interesting that they chose to not use the iconic white assassin robes for the costume design, but I am liking that they've gone for a setting not used in the games.

Hmmm. Though call as I've never played the first game. Although I can vouch for him having a better costume. It looks kinda cheap and thus not very convincing. That could be just me though.
-
I definitely hope that it looks better in the film when it's seen properly. The I'm calling it Abstergo turns traitor type female potential love interest for Fasbender does come across as a Lucy clone though in the trailer. I agree on the 'cheap' feel of the costume, overall, even though the sfx look nice enough so far generally. I do miss though those clean but layered lines of the traditional robes. :(

I loved the trailer except for the song they included. WTF were they thinking?

Ubisoft must be in this mode "Must. not. copy. Ezio.", since they obviously kinda went towards a Desmond-like protagonist.
At least they won't be releasing an AC game this year.
Rumor has it that Fassbender is in for a sequel.
Now would they release a novelization?
-
A novelization wouldn't surprise me in the slightest bit. :) Sequel being lined up already doesn't surprise me in the slightest bit. Ubisoft definitely need to scale back the rate they've bene churning the games out at, and at return to focusing on making a solid game.
It's probably must not copy Ezio, or Altair, for that matter as well.

They should fire their sound mixer.

By all accounts so far the Warcraft movie is an absolute shitstain (http://kotaku.com/the-warcraft-movie-is-not-good-1778550679) (Legendary Pictures has sadly been losing their stellar reputation over the last decade), so this is kind of the Hail Mary for gaming films in general. If this flops and/or cannot be overly true to the source material, I'm just gonna say that 2016 is the year gaming movies shoudl stop being made at all.
I mean honestly, we have a horrific track record here with the only decent ones being Resident Evil, Prince of Persia, Advent Children Complete, and Ratchet and Clank. One being direct to home video and one being made with heavy oversight by the original creators. Prince of Persia was actually pretty good, and Resident Evil stands out as the first decent gaming movie that didn't go straight to DVD or involve the original creators in a major capacity, and the sequels to it failed to impress many (I love them more than the games though). So in a long history of game films, we have... 4 watchable ones.
In a way, the entire future of video game films is gonna hinge on this movie.
No pressure, Fassbender and Co.

hahaha. I'm sure they are feeling the pressure.
And as for the release date being so near the Star Wars film....

Did you say Resident Evil?! The only one that I think is somewhat worthy is the 2nd movie as it's the closest to the source material. Also Resident Evil as the first decent gaming movie? Are you forgetting about Mortal Kombat?

It's only a good game adaptation because there was practically no story to adapt in the first place. It could have been the story of how Shao Kahn and Scorpion got elected to the White House on the Green Party ticket and it would have been just as faithful to the source material because there wasn't really much story at all to the series when the film was made.
Good adaption, but nothing I'd waste money on watching a second time. Some things were just not meant to be films.
