So I've played The Dracula X Chronicles on emulator and had a great time but I really wanted to play the original Rondo of Blood, the problem is that I can't play it through the PSP emulator. I know the game was released on the Wii Virtual Console but I unfortunately don't have one. Is there a way to maybe emulate the PC Engine and play the game? I know it's such a great game and I really wanted to play with the original visuals.

Update your emulator, it's been working for awhile now.

Softmod the original VCR Xbox and install XMBC. That's how I played my actual TG16 Super CD Rom copy. All emulation on the first Xbox through XMBC runs the actual disks as well.i.e. PC Engine, Sega CD, etc.

It "works" but the music randomly stops and the audio of the cutscenes comes before they actually show :/

That actually happened with my actual disk. Has that happened to anyone else's copy?

FIXED LINK: (fucking Firefox vs Flash bug...) http://www.mediafire.com/download/ms2mrxbswowwfob/rondo32v12.exe (http://www.mediafire.com/download/ms2mrxbswowwfob/rondo32v12.exe)
I uploaded the PC version because apparently the original links are down. Personally I'd use a gamepad rather than the keyboard to play it.

Nope but needless to say that an emulated copy I stumbled across was on a cd and it still happened with that.

Thanks a lot! I already had a more recent version but I had some problems with the image size, this version totally fixes it.

Buy a Vita and download the game legit on PSN. Or get it on Wii VC.

get it on Wii VC.
Exactly, I'd forgotten about that.

That's my preferred version to play
Even though it's in Japanese.
To be fair, the music doesn't cut off and the cutscenes are in sync.

I can't believe that was an actual issue with certain discs. Now it's making sense that whoever's disc I was using was defective in the first place. You start fighting the Minotaur and a cutscene audio would start up. So strange.

This game is really really damn good o_o The best one in terms of classic Castlevania imo.

I wish I knew how to get a turbo cd emulator workingl. I'd emulate Double Dragon 2 also.

You know that you have to run your backup copies of your games via a cd through the emulator, fyi.

Tested
Legit downloaded version from PSN (JP region, downloaded through PSV) works fine
Download PSP iso image into my PSP and it works with no serious problem
But the old style Rondo mode in DXC has some tiny little pieces of issue indeed (frame rate too high with certain situations like opening demo and Shaft fight) but it's not a game-breaking problem on the real console after I got the right way to deal with Shaft
And thought about the emulator problem reports in this thread... I also encountered it. Maybe there's some inner issue inside the DXC old style Rondo mode program itself, I have no idea about it (Personally I'm just not satisfied with what emulators on PC did. FPS is kinda zig-zagged for unknown reason in Rondo mode; and SotN mode is too slow to even move the character)
But since I have PSV as my backup choice I have no further worry about it

I'm interested in this as well, instead of burning to a CD, would something like DAEMON tools work with a mounted cd image?

Yes or alcohol 100%
You have to mount the ISO of your original disc into a virtual drive, once you've done that and you can see all the files then use it to burn a backup copy.
