So, that which was prophesied almost a year ago (http://www.siliconera.com/2015/10/05/konamis-pachinko-company-filed-a-trademark-for-big-boss/) has come to pass...
...I'mma go and microwave the popcorn.

Meh Kinda lost all hope for Konami at this point. This is just a mildly amusing anecdote in their new venture.

Look at this crap.
I've lost count how many Metal Gear fans I tried to sway over to the Castlevania side when it was being turned into a pachinko. The response? "Nobody gives a shit for Castlevania." I told them Metal Gear was next on the line, and heard that Metal Gear was untouchable and Konami would never do this to Metal Gear.
On one hand this is incredibly sad. To see Konami rape their long-standing IPs like this. On the other, I'm really spiteful at the Metal Gear fanbase. We and the Silent Hill fanbase cried for help and they turned their eyes away because MUH METAL GEAR. Now there's nobody to cry for help to.

If only they would assure us that Castlevania and Metal Gear will see quality console releases again, none of this would matter. We would only being seeing these as novelties that they are.
But instead, the impression is that these are the only forms of our beloved series' konami is willing to provide.
Well... Good thing that some of the fans won't stand for this shit. We'll stand up and make a better future for Castlevania ourselves.
Hopefully the same can be done for Metal Gear.

If I remember, some people tried to do remakes of MG1 and MGS1 and both got cease and desist orders from Lovely Konami.
You're absolutely right.
One even had support from Konami and David Hayter on board. Even after that Konami decided to pull the plug on it before release.
All of their hard work went to waste...
Total douche bag move by Konami and also a lost opportunity.

I'm just surprised this forum hasn't gotten a cease and desist order from Konami at this point simply for existing.
I mean, they clearly hate their fans so that just seems like the logical next step.

Probably waiting to scoop up all the Umbra content once it's finally completed and make the Demon Castle Wars pachislot.

There gonna wait for Umbra to reach that pinnacle of near-completion before dropping the all-too-evident axe(armor) on us.

Honestly if that ever happened I'd like to see it unfold--since there's no actual game and it's never been stated to be confirmed as a game, it's little more than fanfiction with some artistic assets (fanart and fandubs, respectively) made for it.
I'd love to see that one try and happen, since it would basically have to turn into a case of "well you're gonna have to go after every other piece of Castlevania fanart, fandub, fanmusic, and fanfiction out there for this to fly."
Holding the IP and copyright doesn't make one invincible to legal discourse, after all.

Without umbra being released as a game or as one whole piece of media there really isn't anything for them to go after. Pictures, stories, and audio clips released part by part on a forum isn't really something they can aim at.
Like Dracula9 said, they'd have to go after every bit of fan art and fan fiction ever made at that point.
It's safe to say that project is in the clear.

I meant the forum itself guys, not just any single project being talked about here. Or maybe they DID send a C&D but they sent it to Kurt who is unable to comply because he was clearly abducted by Space Aliens.

Heh. How are those fans handling the news now? Also kinda surprised they've been mean to the Silent Hill fanbase, since Kojima was working on Silent Hills.

Yeah that was basically my response. "Welcome to my world" We didn't even get a proper recognition of Castlevania's 25th anniversary because Konami were so busy throwing everything to Metal Gear, now that Kojima's gone it looks like they're not even gonna try to exploit the franchise further and it's gonna be another IP to throw on Pachinko machines. The schadenfreude is real.

So who's going to get the skanky parlor girl redesign in this one?
Will The Boss be spouting motivational lines at Snake while running around in a half-stealth suit/half-bikini ensemble for no reason?

One of my best pals did 3 tours of duty in Afghanistan during the War on Terror and after doing so said he could never play Snake Eater again as his experiences had led him to view the Boss' rants and speeches as not motivational at all; rather he recognized them as the rantings of a character who was "overflowing from the brim with shit" and "a huge slap in the face to any real serviceman. If she truly feels the way she claims to at any point in the game she should have simply retired years before as there's a clear morale problem here."
Ironically, making The Boss dress like a skank might improve his opinion of her somewhat by marking her as a parody of the "warrior-philosopher".

I still don't get the CV ones. Like, CV wasn't very popular in Japan, so why the fuck market a machine using it? Yeah, Pachinkos are popular af over there, but why would someone play a machine marketed using a franchise they most likely don't care about? MG I can see cus MG is still popular in Japan (?). Still.... Common...
Sad thing, this strategy is actually working for Konami. Mobile only is making them gangbusters, along with some help from the pachinkos: http://in.ign.com/metal-gear-solid-5/92926/news/konami-profits-rise-after-switching-focus-to-mobile (http://in.ign.com/metal-gear-solid-5/92926/news/konami-profits-rise-after-switching-focus-to-mobile)
