Title: Internet games these days
Post by: Mooning Freddy on December 18, 2016, 12:00:01 PM
I can't help but wonder about popular intenet games these days.
Many developers like to bring in these RPG elements to their games, which is cool and addicting, and gives their games top ratings.
But after playing an online game for 30 minutes, realizing it's nothing more than a crazy button-masher where you literally CAN'T LOSE, it made me wonder. Why am I playing this? It has cool animations and RPG and everything, but the game has no challenge.
It was basically a "press space to win" kind of game. So why am I playing?

And why do people like these games? I mean, yeah, they're fun, for a while. But then you realize you're doing the same thing over and over for hours. It seems to me that online game developers are cashing in on bored kids who don't even see the point of gaming.

By "internet games", are we talking stuff like AdventureQuest or DragonFable? Cuz if we're talking those, you'd be right on the money about "online game developers are cashing in on bored kids who don't even see the point of gaming."

I remember loving these games as a kid. A few weeks ago I made a new account on AQ, to hop back in and relive some childhood memories... and they really should've just stayed childhood memories. Cuz I had no fun at all.

What inspired my rant was this game, but it's only one out of many games / mobile apps.

Is it just that casual gaming has become more of a big thing?  Maybe that doesn't qualify as casual gaming...but it's extreme simplicity and how easy it is to get in and out of...that seems to be more common nowadays.
