I mean, as a Castlevania fan I should be kind of bubbling over at Bloodstained, but instead I'm just sort of "Meh. I'll buy it when it comes out".
I don't understand people who get hung up on every little developer's update. To me, that's just been the hype train that has led me to several expensive disappointments (none more expensive and disappointing than Judas the PS4 (http://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/index.php/topic,8959.0.html)). My hype cycle tends to be:
- *Sees trailer that looks interesting*
- "Well hey that looks cool" *writes down the title of the game*
- *waits*
- *reads reviews after game launches*
- *decides whether or not to buy it*
- ? ? ? ?
- PROFIT (except when it sometimes doesn't)
Am I the only one here who's like that? And this is with games in general, not just Bloodstained.

Same here. If there's a game coming out that I like, I kind of shut myself off from all of the news surrounding it. Knowing too much about a game I'm anticipating kind of dilutes the excitement for me. I never really enjoyed the minutiae of developer blogs, either. Hell, I rarely ever read gaming news sites anymore, and that used to be a daily habit for me. Too much stuff I'm not really interested in, I guess.
Conversely, trying to find out more info on an upcoming game that has little to no news attached to it is frustrating, as well.

I rarely board the hype train but whenever I do, I tend to learn about spoilery stuff early but that doesn't dissuade me from playing the game I like. And I tend to stick to a game for as long as I can before moving on = less game purchases in a year.

I'm often left meandering at the station when all the hype trains come and go. I just don't have that kind of energy or enthusiasm anymore. It's not like it was during my childhood where I would flip through a gaming mag and see what the latest titles of said consoles are available. Those days have since come and gone and all I have left is just me,.. wandering around the station whilst looking at all the other people in life getting over-excited for something that will either make or break their feelings of hype.

Even if I'm excited for a game I never let hype ruin it if it doesn't turn out as good. I look at the positives, negatives and form my opinion. Sure it sucks if it isn't as good as I thought it'd be (007 Legends) but if it's genuinely good I'll treat it as such, same if its genuinely bad. Have to say I'm also not going crazy over bloodstained. It looks really good, I think it'll be good, but it'll be missing the Castlevaniaisms that I'm so used to- returning enemies, returning music, story of BelmontsVDracula etc. Even if it's as good as any CV game, It won't be Castlevania in that regard.

I also hype for several games but only few excitement point can be caught by me or enter my censor.
In addition, Free Trial versions can help me a lot when judging whether I should buy a game or not.
