Title: CV4 Beta footage
Post by: Guy Belmont on July 15, 2017, 04:12:10 PM
I found this as I was going over my old files, and I thought id share it as.
Its  beta footage For CV4, I saw this years ago, and I guess a lot of older CV fans on here have seen this too, but I'm sure there some that haven't .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waAsGYKptqI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waAsGYKptqI) (sorry for no direct upload. but I couldn't get the Youtube  vid linker to work)

the CV4 footage starts at 0:14.

However putting in with other ads was an odd idea as this
most likely never it was aired on Telly  (I mean it could have been but I really don't think so)  most likely footage sent to game shops and what have you. but still a cool peace of CV history.

The best narrator of all time.
The best version of Bloody Tears in so many official/remixed tracks I've ever heard. Just how catchy this version of the tune was. And the perfect sound instrument sample and the perfect tone ...so addictive!
Konami give us a proper release of this version of Bloody Tears pls

And damn, they really could make the stage select function available via extra code input... But for some reason it's not included in final cut. Instead it became dummied out and not accessible without external cheats...

I'm convinced "Castlevania IV" was originally intended for NES, which is why they left out "Super". The graphical jump is pretty substantial and those graphics moreso resemble NES.

You missed Gradius III and Contra III which doesn't have "Super" in it, by that logic they are also originally intended for NES. To be fair, almost every launch or earlier titles on the system has a graphics that resembles a bit of NES.

I'm just saying those graphics look like they were made to run on an 8-bit engine. There's not even any directional whipping involved. If the game was very close to release then surely they'd have used newer footage as it would have been available.

There is no way that footage is from an NES. There's clearly more than 8 colors at a time, even though it's blurry you can still see that. In general the footage is not much different than the final game, if anything it's really just Simon who looks less refined. Those graphics are NOT Nes graphics. or you have a very generous memory of what the NES was capable of

Yeah the graphical look of tiles or objects in the beta on the video doesn't even look degraded and still looks the same as the final product, only difference of course was the skeleton or the enemies that didn't even make it on the final product and possibly Simon's sprite.

Since the game was supposed to be remake of the first game, it doesn't make sense that was originally meant on the NES or famicom system, not to mention the title in japan is just the same as the first game. The title of the US (like adding "Super" in the final product)doesn't have something to do with it since it wasn't even natively made or developed there from the very start.
