Hello beauties. I had just beaten Castlevania adventure on my 3DS via virtual console (literally 2 minutes ago) for the first time but as you all know, the game is old and has quite a few issues, (Unresponsive controls, slow as molasses, 1 hit you lose upgrades, etc.) So to even the odds, I used save points, (they act as save states sort of) to make as checkpoints when I died since I didn't want to do the whole level over and over and over and over and over again. I have beaten Castlevania 1-4, almost all the ones on gba, and ds, as well as adventure rebirth but here's my question. Would you guys still consider this game to be beaten even though I used my own checkpoints? I personally feel it's only fair seeing as the game is riddled with issues. It's not a bad game at all just very buggy.

Your accomplishments are judged by your own criteria, nobody else's. You should ask yourself if you feel accomplished, and share your accomplishment with others. Don't ask others for validation of your accomplishment, because it's not their experience, and they can never understand your experience.
-
Take any accomplishments while you can. Especially from CV Adventure.

No, go back and do it again.

Damn. I never thought of it that way. Well I guess I definitely beat it then hahaha. And that's true. I gotta take what I can get from adventure seeing as there's not a whole lot it is willing to give.

I'm with Nagumo, definitely doesn't count.

Will agree with the others: Did not count. If you gonna get tortured, you must get tortured the proper way.

Congratulations on finishing the game!
Now try it again with the save state feature off, for extra challenge and replayability.
That is, if you want to, or... IF YOU DARE!

If you played through the entire game, you've played through the entire game.
A lot of the difficulty in Adventure, is, frankly, cheating difficulty in my opinion (just my opinion, mind). So, take a couple "honest" cheats of your own. Save states/custom checkpoints are probably the most honest.
If you'd hacked for infinite health or something like that, I'd probably say you didn't get the full experience.
But a custom save structure?
PFFFFFFFT. The only thing more honest than that is George Washington.

Beating Bloodlines for the first time with Save States on Genecyst wasn't as satisfying as breaking Dracula's second form apart on an actual Genesis.
Moving through the experience with Saves is something like empty sex; suffering through The Adventure organically is akin to an act of (slow, steady, challenging, frustrating, passionate) lovemaking.
Just my opinion, man. Heavy respect for GIR's take.
