Limited Run Games are releasing it next Friday, the 15th. It'll be an open preorder for PS4 and Switch, but the standard edition is limited for Vita. The CEs are limited for all platforms and go live at 10am and 6pm EST. Expect the CEs to disappear very quickly.
Tom duBois did the CE poster art which is really cool.

I’m going to try and get one of those Limited Editions but I’m just happy they’re making the standard edition easy enough to get. You’ll also be able to buy that at Best Buy
-
The outer box for the CE (with duBois art and classic Konami style metallic gray borders) will be NES-sized for the Switch and Vita versions. That's a neat touch.

So the preorders will be up on the website on the 15th?
-
Yes. The standard editions will be available for at least two weeks. Sale of the CEs will go live in two batches: 10am and 6pm EST. Those usually sell out within a minute so hopefully hardcore CV fans can get copies.
-
I've been buying from LRG for years, so if anybody has never bought from them before and wants one of the CEs or the standard Vita edition, I recommend doing all of these things in advance: creating an account, adding your address, logging in to your LRG account, logging in to your PayPal account if that's how you're paying. Once you have all that set before sales open up, get on the page of whatever you want to buy and keeping refreshing with F5 until you can add it to cart. Don't spend a lot of time going through checkout because adding something to your cart doesn't reserve it for you. Items can sell out while you're trying to get through checkout.
I'm aiming for a Vita CE myself. Good luck, everybody.

I'm struggling to decide if I want this on PS4 or Switch. The PS4 CE will pair up with my Kickstarter reward for Ritual of the Night, and the box will be bigger, showing off duBois' art better (I realize there's a poster too); while the Switch box is the same size as an NES box, and I already have the download on PS4 and collecting a game card is cooler than a disc. So I dunno how to go about it. :p
I do know the Switch CE will likely be more coveted, so maybe getting it on PS4 is best while people are fighting to get the Switch version.
-
Yeah, if past sales are any indication, the PS4 CE should sell out the slowest of the three CEs.
-
Isn't this game already like a year old?
-
The digital download sure. But a physical copy just released? People will still eat it up. Especially those who prefer a hard copy they can keep on the shelf. I'd rather have a physical copy to keep. Cause you never know.
-
Limited Run Games and publishers like them exist to physically release games that aren't big enough to get regular retail physical releases. So almost everything they release is stuff that first comes out digital-only. Most of their releases are games that are available digitally for quite a while before the physical release happens.

Glad to see more Tom DuBois art. The classics still live!

Yep! Judging from his art the man hasn't lost a step :)
-
Managed to nab a PS4 CE copy in the first wave. Thanks Tina for suggesting getting things set up before the launch because everything across all platforms sold out in 5 minutes.
Very excited about the DuBois artwork and having a legit copy of the soundtrack.
-
Picked up two CE, one PS4 and one Switch. One's gonna be a gift to my brother.
-
Was able to get a PS4 CE. All my info was prefilled from last time I ordered, but I ended up having to re-enter my CC info which could have been disastrous. :p
Nitpick time: While it's cool the Switch box is NES size, I didn't like that it has red on the spine and lacks the Nintendo Seal of Approval-style LRG logo on the front. Bigger artwork on PS4 also, and a dust sleeve that's closer in size to an NES cart. Glad I went with PS4 on this.
Might interest some to know that Special Reserve Games is releasing the Ninja Gaiden-looking game The Messenger on PS4/Switch soon. Open preorder with free shipping worldwide, though LRG will also distribute it with different cover art and likely a higher price, since they said free shipping is only available from SRG.
And the Castlevania/Demon's Crest-inspired Odallus is available from eastasiasoft through Playasia.
-
Goddammit I forgot about it and missed the CE. Got the regular PS4 version instead...
-
I gave it a really deep thought and while the CE edition was having some nice art, it wasn't anything special to get a fight on getting one, so instead i'll take a regular for the ps4.
-
I was able to snag a PS4 CE. I was stuck at work, but I happened to get a call that allowed me to be on the computer right when the sale started.

Awesome, thanks for posting this here! I want to play it but don't have a Switch. I had no idea it was getting a PS4 release, much less a physical one.
-
I'm glad you guys were successful. :) I was able to get a Vita CE like I wanted too.
-
Any chance for EU physical version?
-
Probably not, since LRG ships internationally, and the Switch, PS4, and Vita are all region-free. So LRG probably got worldwide rights for the physical release.
-
Damn. I can't pay shipping that is 3 times the cost of the item. Perhaps someday someone who imported it will sell it on ebay eu :D
-
I don't know about the CEs with their extra weight, but from what I've heard, they usually charge around $15 USD for shipping standard copies of games internationally. And they prepay customs fees for a lot of countries so that the buyer doesn't have to deal with surprise fees.

On their site they say that many countries could have custom fees which in my country is around 60$. Btw I saw in Ebay pre-orders of the game for 50-60$.
So it will be hard but obtainable.
-
Is your country not among the ones they prepay?

If your country is on that list, you won't have to pay any customs fees.

Yes Bulgaria is on the list. So I guess it is save to order it.
UPDATE: I have pre-ordered it! I just couldn't help it!
Also I saw that Bloodstained Ritual of the Night is for pre-order in my retailer!

I like the cover art better on the Best Buy release, glad I waited:
