I just thought i would see if anyone has heard of this, and if it's real.
-
Yeah it's real. Can't tell you where to find it though :D
-
Awesome. I took a chance on it. I was afraid it was some virus or something because it seemed to good to be true. The game works though. I still wish it could be released on Wii VC, along with Castlevania 3.
-
Can I put it on my PSP? Wait, I have DXC, I don't need this.... but still, can I run it on my PSP?
-
It's made with the emulator Mednafen, but just as an exe file, there's also a Gradius 2 and Zero Wing one. Since you found it, I won't have to PM you any details. :)
-
So can I run it on my PSP without any emulators?

um no.
it's a pc emulator bundled with the iso into an exe, so unless you have a cpu with x86 architecture and windows installed on your psp it won't work.
gb2/dxc/ :P

actually i think they did recently port windows xp to the psp or something...
anyway, there's 2 different ways to get rondo on the psp. 1) obviously dxc. 2)pc engine cd emulation. i couldn't give you any more details on the 2nd one, but i understand it to be possible anyway.

In Japan, they released Rondo on the Virtual Console. I think it may take a little bit of time for it to come on the VC here.

Yeah but in order for this thing to be accessible, they downgraded the music to MP3s :( I'd rather stick with my CD copy and M.E. for the best music quality possible.
Still this is great for the people who never got it figured out and/or couldn't afford to get a PSP just for DXC. It's impressive, and you wonder why it wasn't done sooner.
But... who the hell wastes an AXE on a candle at ground level?
-
if anybody wants the link I'll hook them up just lemme know. (outside the boards of course). 8)

There isn't really a big difference. WAV is great but you don't lose that much clarity and oomph going to MP3. I think all the music still sounds great.

you have to:
1-throw your psp on the ground
2-repeatedly slam it with a sledge hammer until it's flat
3-once it becomes a pancake you delete system32 folder from c:\windows\ from your pc
4-??????
5-PROFIT
and then you can play it. :o

There is an option for 48000hz sampling rate for the sound. I thought it sounded fine, or at least I did not notice it much during play, except that the music in that game is awesome.I am going to buy a psp for drac x chronicles though, just for the remake. Two endings so far and working on 100%.

Yeah, I don't want to dp that anymore. I also deleted the program from my computer cause AntiSpyware said it was a virus... and 25 other things on my PC...
-
why would you need this anyway? it's just the rondo rom + emulator for PC bundled into one exe. it's not like there's anything more in it than in dxc, on the contrary, there's less content in this than dxc's version of rondo.
-
Don't forget the downgraded music :P
Like I said though, this should put a damnper on all those forum requests to get Rondo, or to get it working.
No more:
"Can I have Rondo. PLZ PLZ PLZ!"

I know. I just want to somehow experience everything Castlevania, or actually, I just want to be able run a game on my PSP that's on the mem stick.

That's easy. Download corrupted firmware.

then get some psp emulators instead of pc ones. trying to run a pc program on a psp is as likely as running a psp game on a pc by just doubleclicking it. utterly impossible without an emulator to convert the alien architecture of the program's exe into something the console will understand.
as for "everything castlevania" part, just get the real rondo iso and either some psp emulator or magic engine.
-
I also plan to do that.

I like this version better the Mp3 music really doesn't bother me (I don't really notice a big difference). I like how the dub timing is correct (since there's no disk to read).
-
I just completed this version, 100% for the first time. It lived up to the hype for the most part. It seemed a bit easier than expected. Reviews of the game said it was harder than Castlevania IV, but it seemed quite a bit easier to me. It certainly would have been awesome in 1993. I also finally got the emulator to run the game, and the sound difference is noticeable. Not sure it worth the extra hard drive space though (since I have to use a virtual drive).
So is the remake worth playing? I don't have a psp, so I would be buying it just for this game, at least at first.
-
The remake is worth playing. Also, it'll be worth buying a psp since there'll probably be another cv made for it in the future.

Not unless its sales all of a sudden skyrocket. But definitely a good value.
I gave it a 9.5 in a review. Having the value of SOTN and all the new content they added, like the sound assign... they really worked really hard to bring this out faithfully.

That's cool the cutscenes look better. That always irked me about the shoddy lip-sync, but it's not like they have that much of anything interesting to say.

oh great!, where can I find it?
off topic: i downloaded The Cv Order of Shadows, horrible, yes, but in my rom I can't select other weapons, no the VK, no axes, no crosses...
