Hey, I just came up with this idea, when I saw some cool CV-cosplays. What about CV larp? (larp = live action role play)
20-30 People dress up like CV-Chars and -enemies, rent a small castle together, fight each other, and unite to fight the count.

But count me out. O_o

I hosted a Castlevania theme party on back in 2003 when Lament came out. I put the date on Holloween to encourage my guests to come in costume --which about half of them did. A couple guests created wonderful costumes from scratch --one was more inspired, but the other was very authentic. Creating such costumes can be a very expensive endeavor, even if you have the time and the skill to tailor yourself.
Roleplaying a battle in cosplay like you suggest would certainly put that kind of seamwork to the test. Not to mention the expense of "renting a castle" ?!?! Even my party (which hosted nearly a couple dozen people) cost me over $1000.00 for decorating, food, party favors, etc... Still.. It would be nice if the hardcore fans could somehow --come together someplace to celebrate Castlevania in a meaningful way --a convention of some sort.
As bad as everyone thinks the Castlevania movie could turn out, it would almost certainly be easier on the eyes than some amatuer video of a Castlevania cosplay battle posted on youtube.

While I am all for cosplaying (especially to watch the girls in the costumes), LARPing goes too far, in my opinion.
I've a couple of college friends who LARP. It's just too far on the Geek scale for me. The only thing worse are Medieval and War Re-enactment Groups. You know, the ones who really believe they're still in the Middle Ages...
This calls for...
"Lightning Bolt!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_ekugPKqFw&feature=related)
-
I've dressed up as a Belmont before (for Halloween, complete with whip and sword, almost got arrested, long story...) but I'll have to agree: no larpping...or whatever.
It sounds like it could be fun but then you'll have 'those' people that take the roles a 'little' too far and begin to creep you out...

My thoughts exactly. I didn't even know that stuff had a name. I usually don't criticize what other people find fun (unless it's harmful or very, very bizarre), but that is too much for me, too. Running through the foothills in a wacky costume and pretending to be some fantasy character is something I may have found fun when I was about 10.
-
I wouldnt mind gettin out there and fightin and havin fun with all the foam weapons and shit thatd be really fun. But as for the whole roleplaying aspect Ill have to pass. First person that threw a lil ball at me and yelled lightning bolt would get my pvc pipe foam covered sword up his ass.
-
ehhh...LARPing...if you are going to do it, do it somewhere where no one else will ever see you...then don't tell anyone else about it....ever! I find it to be embarrassing to the fans

Ooo, yes! Especially a really hot Succubus Cosplay-er, yeah, that would be nice. I agree though, LARPing is a bit too far. It's like the Naruto cosplay-ers who have pretend "ninja battles". I've never actually cosplayed myself, mostly because I hate dressing up, esapecially for Halloween (hate the dreadful holiday, the only good thing is that in the past few years it seems to mark the release of a new CV game). Still, If I did dress up as a Belmont, at least I've got the holy water!
-
I've cosplayed before, and I was a Thespian in High School.
Maybe LARPing is too out of my league, but count me in if there's ever a script for a Play =P

I agree with this, if you're making a movie or some sort of episode, you're going to be considered a lot less crazy.
But on the other hand, LARPING, for ridicule purpose in the right hands can be HILARIOUS:

How can you hate Halloween!? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that. I'm 22 and I still love dressing up for it. So much fun

I never said I would do it. I just said I'd watch it on youtube if anyone else actually did. xDb

Not sure, I just don't really like the idea of running around in a hot sweaty costume begging people for their candy. It's too much work, I'd rather be inside playing Castlevania, and I don't like candy (except Hershey's Chocolate, but I can get that at the store).
About LARPing, come to think of it, it would be a lot of fun to dress up as Trevor B. and kick the crap of someone.

You keep surfing the internet and don't know meg64? Man, I LOVE the paperboy-video. I think this is my favourite:

Whaddaya sellin'?
-
Mega64 is one of my all time favorite game-related sites. :D
And, yeah the Paperboy one still remains one of their most elaborate. I mean they had to wait for a real paper guy to come around in his car and they nailed the animations and the behavior of the sprites so well. It's too good ;D

Hahaha! Always wanted to try that someday...

I thought the Dead Rising one was pretty gutsy.

I didn't even know you could get in one of those sock things in the game . . .

As if any normal street is like that. People of the late '80's really went to great lengths to stop the dude on the bike who brings them their newspapers.
-
He envoked the wrath of the mummy god, what do you expect?
...Aaaaand mumies brings us back to Castlevania.
You see how I did that? Did you see?
??? ... You're killing me, Smalls!

Umm... Paperboy had an actual story? Other than deliver papers?

I saw one years ago too. An epic fight between Richter and Drac. Especially Dracs transformation was hilarious. But I couldn't find it.

LMAO! I remember that one! It was hilarious! I'll try to find it.

Believe me, I know how true that is. Back in my CoD-loving days, I learned that the hard way...

Oh yeah, and how you deserved it. xD Nah, just kidding. Actually I'm a pretty big PoR(and, no. I'm not gonna add a k here) lover, so I don't deserve a life either.

Lol, yeah not here, anyway. But I actually lost my love for CoD and looking back at it, I realize it was pretty crappy. I'm guessing you still love pork.
-
As said many times before, CoD is crappy. But it has some good moments. Such as the Pok

Uh, I actually saw the ID thing as negative, but that's just me. As for it's real negatives... IDK, it justs gets boring five minutes after I start my PS2.
And yes, PoR could have been better than those repeated stages. It's always so annoying to know I'm not even halfway done after finishing the first four.

Mega 64 now has a podcast.
It's funny even if it doesn't seem to have to do with their usual larps.
