Release date TBA, though. Looks fun (and cute).
Also in before Kid Dracula comparisons.

Total rip off the series' mechanics. But it looks rather fun.
The video was posted 2006, so has anyone had the chance to play this, or was it canned?
It actually reminds me alot of Goemon's games, too, and the camera moves around like Klonoa's.
-
Very cute looking game.

Looks like it is done. It would be cool for a 3d Castlevania similar to that, so long as it's stage based. Personally, my fan boy wet dream is a remake of Castlevania 3, with hidden soundtrack modes scattered in the levels. Once you find them the soundtrack of each level plays a different version or remix of the song, including the 8 bit tracks..

*downloads demo.

I hate DXC's remake of Richter and Maria's appearance.
I fear what they would do to CVIII's cast. but they might
at least (head hair and face-wise) make Trevor looks like in CoD, and Alucard like in SOTN.

Hm... looks like utter shit.

Hmmm... it does indeed remind me of Goemon for N64. Or Kirby: The Crystal Shards (also N64). Sidescrolling but in 3D, but with some camera movements as you move.
Looks kinda low-res though. For a 2006 title it lacks some polish. Still, that might be intentional to get that 'look' of cutesiness.

This is because you've no appreciation for ornate beauty~~~

DXC was the best thing to happen to the series since SotN. A new CV like this game would be fantastic. Why did CV ever trade its skill-based gameplay for the deeply customizable gameplay of AoS/PoR?

I honestly don't see anything you mentioned to be negative. Dracula's Curse was great and all, ut the one thing they f-ed up was Alucard's appearance. I know that this was obviously before huis SoTN appearnce was created, but they made him look like a totally unoriginal Dracula clone!
-
So, I had a quick go at it.
First of, the core gameplay is pretty solid, but that's to be expected as it's almost an exact clone of CV. Character uses a whip, press up + attack to fire a missile attack. Missiles attacks are powered by red thingies that you get by destroying candles... And ofcourse theres double jumping.
Press down + attack while double jumping to do an arial downward attack, and finally down pluss jump to do a roll (which is kind of similar to the slide in some CV's).
Aaanyway. The leveldesign is alright until you quickly discover every dang level is pretty much the same, the same goes for the backgrounds.
In conclusion I give it a meh/10.

lol.

I saw this game lastnight. I was searchin for "vampire hunter" for a good pic to use for a custom class in Oblivion and found it. Havent cared enough to DL it and try it out but it does smell of CV parody.

What a coinci-dink. ;)

I'd rather be forced to play Haunted Castle for two days, no break.

Same here, that game looks like crap. And still, HC is a CV game, which I would prefer to play any CV to any non-CV game.
-
This just goes to show that Castlevania and Kirby do not mix. :P

Yes. I mean if it has ME wanting to play Haunted Castle, it must be quite frightening.
-
I think I'd be more comfortable with this than Haunted Castle.

Yeah. Amazing Mirror sucked cock. ._.
-
I kinda like it. It's responsive and reasonably well-made. I dont care about the Castlevania reference though, there are millions of other things that come to mind when playing it besides Castlevania. Klonoa for example.
The levels are too repetitive though, and it's nowhere near as good as Namcos masterpiece, but I'm a sucker for the 2.5D perspective platformer formula. This would've been excellent on the original playstation. It's arguably better than, say, Pandemonium.
Haunted Castle sucks, btw.
-
Looks like CastleVania, minus the gothic feel.
Looks good, but I still enjoy the Symphony style CV games.

Yes, but the first thing that comes to mind is Castlevania. Vampires (Dracula) + Whip + Sidescrolling + Double Jump + Whipping Candles/Torches... Yeah. It really feels like a ripoff to me. I don't like the whole side-scrolling 3D thing either. It just gets me confused.

But..that's what he's in SotN too.

Well at least he doesn't look like a Count Chocula clone. o_O And he's blonde, as opposed to Dracula's white (black in Rondo/DXC) hair. ;D He has a nice, romantic appearance in SotN, despite him looking like Dracula.

Hm... looks like utter shit.
QFT.
Are you trying to disgrace our beloved Castlevania?
-
In Reply To #28
Maybe you are, if you are trying to say that this shit looks like CV. There surely are similarities. The grave difference is that this thing here looks like kid dracula on crack. Only less sympathetic and with cool low poly 3d-models.
I don't have to mention anything about atmosphere, do I?
-

in case you didn't notice, rugal quoted you, then said QFT which means quoted for truth. :o
the second line was most likely directed at the topic starter.
-
Oh. Looks like I'm not really familiar to internet-vocabulary. ._.
-
THis would go along as a kid dracula game.
-
After playing through the demo I've come to the conclusion that it's still slightly more fun than the following CVs:
Curse of Darkness
Lament of Innocence
Adventure
Vampire's Kiss
Simon's Quest
Legends
Haunted Castle
Order of Shadows
So comparing it to CV is no disgrace - it's a compliment. :D

Most people in this forum would add the gba- and ds-ones to you list.
-
the gba titles aren't *that* bad. the ds ones are though, miles below all 3d titles, and even dracula xx. :o
-
Dunno. I love Dawn of Sorrow. It's basically what Aria of Sorrow should've been. Aria had a much better soundtrack though. Portrait is better than all of the games I listed above IMO, but it's still very average. My favourite handheld CV by far is Harmony of Dissonance though. I love how it's weird and "wrong" in all the right places, the soundtrack.. the castle layout.. it's excellent.
Circle of the Moon is a little... stiff. But great. It's probably the game that feels most like an old school CV to me (except Nathan jumps ridiculously high)
Anyway, great game. Great music too.
-
Good lord. If that game is better than all those Castlevania's, plus *possibly* the DS & GBA ones, then I don't know why some of you even play the damn game anymore.
-
In Reply To #37
I agree and Shelverton you lose all kinda points for sayin ANY of those games is better than Simons Quest. =P
-
Meh, I would give this game a try...

LMFAO! This reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from another site: people bitch so much a about this series, a box of tissue needs to be the new pre-order bonus.
-

Lol, box of tissues.
-
Good lord.
-
And here's this old discussion again. Yeah, well. Let them emo-kids play the old cvs und symphony of the night 'til the end of time. I like something new sometimes. And I personally think the gba- and ds-games are great.

Just because I kinda like this game better than som CVs doesn't mean I hate all the CVs in that list (I do hate Adventure and Haunted Castle though, but that's about it). Cause apart from the repetitive backgrounds, I sincerely like this type of games. I wasn't trying to bash CV.
I wasn't saying my comment directly towards you, that's why I added the *gba & ds* games, cause that part wasn't part of your comment. I meant to/for those people that would have actually added those games along with your list, not just your list in general.
Slightly Off Topic: Kamirine, did you draw that avatar you have now or just make an avatar out of it? It's prettiful if you did!
-

I like what you've done here....
Aria had a much better soundtrack though.
NO NO NO NO NO NO!
-
i have yet to see someone who would hate all the gba titles at once along with the ds stuff.
i only have few small quirks with them like crappy palette in hod/aos or annoying controls in cotm, but not enough to hate them. except portrait, that game just has too much bad stuff in it at once and completely lost the castlevania feel, so it's just an ok platformer, but in no way a good castlevania title.

User score 6.2 ;D

Yeah, it's part of a set. I have a Gir, Alucard, Iroi (Yagami), and Axel (KH) to match it.
But back on topic, I agree completely with A N T R A X X's last statement.
-
You all seem to be forgetting, in portrait Death has samurai-like aspects.
Think about that.

I think he had them better in Rondo, more so his second form. Plus he wore a top hat, which made him way more awesome in that game. :P
