Title: Konami should milk the DS games on Xbox Live Arcade
Post by: Saner on June 08, 2008, 11:48:45 AM
starting with Order of Ecclesia.

cmon, all they gotta do is port it and it's all good,
easy extra money without having to start from scratch.

plus SOTN was in the top 5 for a long time when it finally
came out on XBLA.   they could win with porting Order of
Ecclesia also. besides Nintendo ain't gonna spent money on
exclusivity so they don't care if it gets ported next year.

Konami should real spread the CV love for all systems that
have a live marketplace and
especially take advantage of the retro appeal of the
XBLA marketplace.

besides, OOE isn't gonna use the stylus this time
(IGA hates that feature as much as the wiimote).
they could easily program the 2nd screen map features
into a map style that SOTN used with a touch of a button.
and the rest of the control config would be cake.  :)

dunno, the idea itself of developing the titles for more than just 1 console isn't actually that stupid.

i mean, more available choices = more sales, and it'll also save the fans from buying an expensive console just for 1 game.

it's stupid how the cv constantly jumps from system to system, forcing the fans to buy new ones all the time if they want to enjoy the new game.

I think it's a good idea. I'm one of few gamers yet to pick up a next-gen console, and if Xbox live or PSN got the DS games, it would strongly push me towards whichever system gained the privilege. Part of the reason I'm so critical of the DS games is that I really hate having to view them on such a tiny screen and with such crappy sound. That said, Nintendo will not let Konami port them until the DS finally, mercifully dies. It'd simply be bad business for them.

Yeah I think Nintendo has some control of their distribution once they're liscenced by them.

Ok, and let's put Virtual Console games on the Playstaion Network.

Pardon me, but I don't see any PSX games on the VC. Hmm... wonder why that is...

A large part of it is the weak amount of space the Wii has. Another thing: Konami still hasn't put much effort behind supporting the system.

I guess it could happen one day, but until they've actually released Dracula's Curse, don't hold your breath for it.

Yes, I'm sure Nintendo is going to just let them release the same game on XBox live at the same time for a cheaper price.  That's good business right there. ::)

i agree. nintendo should have given the wii a hard drive like the 360. i'm getting tired of nintendo's 'casual gamers lol' approach.

Nintendo's really smart to use stuff like a touch screen because if you really want to play the game the way its meant to be played, you're gonna have to get a DS. Emulating DS games strikes me as being a bit of a pain in the ass due to the fact that it has hardware that CAN be emulated, but not well.

^ True. The touch screen allows developers to be creative, but also, people find it harder to emulate and consequently, pirate games for the DS. I imagine playing DoS on a PC will suck, what with the whole touch-screen symbol thing.

it's already possible and not that hard. you use a mouse instead of the pen and press+hold the button to "touch"

Wouldn't it be easy enough to just emulate the mouse as the stylus?

I'm no programmer, but it seems to me it wouldn't be that hard to do.

I have a stylus anyways for my arts. :3

UPDATE: Woops! Didn't see Serio's post there.

I can see the ds cv games being ported to a console with the stylus being emulated with an analog stick.  For dos, I can see the rt analog be used to make the symbols

But with that said, some games would behard to play despite the touch feature can be emulated through different methods.  With a ds emulator for the pc, one can play ouendan with a mouse, but because onehas to drag the mouse from one area to the other, I can see it bein difficult, especially if you have to hit the lower left corner and then the upper right.

However, if the game does getported to XBLA, I can see some ppl complain about them not improving the graphics.  Moreover, midnightsun is correct in that it is unwise of Konami to port OOE at the same date as the ds version, especially how the XBLA would be cheaper.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass would be near impossible to play with a mouse, and certainly not an analog stick (at least for the map drawing and stuff).

It would be more likely if it was a port of Dracula X Chronicles. Taito did it with EXIT, the XBLA port was just the PSP version running in HD, and it looked good.

If Dawn of Sorrow was ported, it would make more sense to strip it out of its touch-screen elements, and the map would appear when pressing a button, a la SOTN.

Id prefer if they were complete remakes, though, with enhanced graphics and music, maybe in 15 years for Xbox 2880 or PS7.

I'd rather see the games ported to the Virtual Console rather then anything XBox related. I don't know, It just sounds like the xbox fanboys would be like "we already made our decision in purchasing 360 so any other cv game should be placed on Live for our sakes!"

creative?  more like stupid features added, (which ruined
stuff like PoR's Sisters Mode.  and ruined other games
like Ninja Gaiden DS.)

Bah! It's the developer's fault if they can't figure out a good way to use the stylus.

And yeah they shouldn't force it either.

But I've seen plenty of amazing things the stylus can do and has done well.
