What ever happened to Soshiro Hokkai?

He was great. His work on HoD is contested often, but I thought the compositions were just beautiful. They weren't the standard style of music for Castlevania, but, boy, did they work surprisingly well with the whole chaotic theme of Harmony of Dissonance. I mean, the songs actually used dissonance. With pieces like Offense and Defense, and the Chapel of Dissonance, it's hard to say that HoD's music was terrible. The build up on Offense and Defense is just so. Then there's his work on AoS: Black Sun and Premonition. This guy is just great. He made the best shopkeeper and opening themes.
But after AoS, he just vanished. I wonder what happened to him. ; - ;

No, he's not Mana.

Everytime I think of his music this comes to mind

I don't know why it's the first thing that sticks out of my mind but it does.

The sound may have been weird to some, but I liked a lot of HoD's songs. Successor Of Fate especially, of course.

The soundtrack to HoD wasn't very popular so I guess that might have something to do with his "disappearance". Personally, I think Successor of Fate is one of the greatest Belmont themes ever. As for the rest of the songs, they fit the chaotic nature of the game, and some of it is very underrated. But I wish the sound quality had been up there with CotM and AoS, cause some of it is slightly grating... But songs like "Skeleton Den" and "To the center of the castle" are really good!
