I agreed that there should be more creatures from Japanese mythology.  I would like to suggest a kitsune.  From what I know, kitsunes are fox spirits that are known for their wisdom.  They start off with one tale and as time passes they grow more with a maximum of nine.  The number of tales is suppose to symbolize how wise they are.  They are also suppose to be tricksters.  They have even been featured in anime usually creating illusions and sometimes wielding fire.

I think a kitsune would make an awesome boss if executed properly.

I couldn't disagree more.  Kitsunes are ridiculously overused and they would not suit the Castlevania series at all.

Well in addition to being cute wise foxes with lots of fluffy tails, there's a dark side to kitsune too. They are known to possess women and make them go crazy and act like foxes, growing sharp teeth and claws and running through the streets naked and sometimes even murdering people like animals. I could see that aspect used in Castlevania, though it would still be kind of awkard...

Here's a gallery of monsters from different mythologies: http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f7/mythical-humanoid-creatures-1300661/ This one is my one of favorites-

The incubus pictures in that linked thread look like fleamen. Coincidence?

There needs to be more vampire types in new games. For a series where the main weapon is called "Vampire Killer" there sure is a lack of them...

Well I don't have any ideas for any well-known vampires like Dracula, Carmilla, or Orlock, but how about a vampire that can summon blood-sucking insects like leeches or mosqitoes? Or maybe transform into them and when he/she's in that from you can't attack him/her and he/she can absorb your health? I think that could be a cool idea.

That painting is often printed in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The little notice my copy has about that painting is that it's actually a female goblin called a mare, the deformed horse face in the background being a nightmare (hur hur get it?).

But yeah, that picture does reflect what people once thought of as effects of succubi and incubi - a suffocating feeling as if someone were sitting on your chest.

That website you have up there uzo is quite interesting. But I think that the author of that site should do a little more research. That one picture depicting a cyclops skull is all wrong. It's clearly an elephant skull as you can see the buttom area were the tusks would protrude from. I do like the Nephilim page however. Those are some hugh humanoids!  :o  But it has also come to my attention that these giants are much more then what the good book tells use. I'm fairly certain that these giants are actually the Atlantians, (whom are rumored to stand at a height of 8" to 12" feet in size) but the first pic showing the size of the skull with the archiologest beside it, could indicate another origin entirely.

... :/

A little more of my hope for humanity just flickered out.

I just had a thought, what about Lyssa as an enemy? She was the Greek Goddess of rage and the disease of rabies in animals. That sounds very dark and creepy, like something that would fit in Castlevania.
