Holding down a button?

My main save file in Order of Ecclesia has hit level 99, and I don't particularly feel like going through Hard Mode Lv. 1 for the 255 level cap (yet. we'll see), so I thought I might as well just max Shanoa's attribute points. I'm going to use the passive method in the white fomor room, but I have a problem:

What's the best way to rape/rubber band/hold down the UP button on the D-pad? Ideally, it would work without damaging the button or the screen, leaving tape residue, or anything else like that.  Any suggestions?  I was thinking of using a rubber band primarily, but then holding it in place with scotch tape, with the rubber band acting as a "shield" to keep the sticky residue from the tape from gumming up the d-pad.

Ok try this. Take a dime or penny and place it over the up button and use the tape to hold it in place and then vertically wrap the rubber band around the button. The coin over the button should avoid any issues with the rubber band pressing the down button by accident. Good luck!

Holy crap, I meant to type "tape" that first time. Wow, what a typo.

And thanks!

I don't know, back when I played the crap out of Street Fighter II in the SNES days, I did end up raping a few buttons (to DEATH!).

I actually have a small steel block I use as a weight when I need something held, but only if I'm overnight-ing something in-game (like the endless river choice in FFVI, etc.).

I've made some pretty bad typos in my day, like that time I tried to type "Everybody duck!" and it went horribly, horribly wrong.  But the worst has to be that time recently I was typing about how you can buy fifty McNuggets for only ten dollars, and, uh... u and i are next to each other, as are t and r.

This topic reminds me of Banjo-Tooie on the N64. There was a jigsaw piece in that game that required mashing the same button so quickly for so long that it was just plain impossible to get without a turbo controller. Someone recommended that I unplug the controller while rapidly pressing the button, then the process would be automatic. Complete bullshit how a game would require a trick like that. :-X
