      2. I've been playing Cv from the beginning (I'm nearing 40), and I can honestly say that, as an oldschool fan that YES, LoS feels very much like a Castlevania game.
LoS felt more like a classic Cv game than the majority of the Cv games to come out over the past 10 years. IMO. ;D

      3. The old timeline has become a convoluted mess, thanks for IGA's amazing non-ability to craft a story. I'm glad they rebooted it.

    THIS^^^^

I`ve been a sick fan of Castlevania series since the first one, the lore and visual really touch my life in some way and personally (theres i a lot of mixed feeling about the game and i respect them all) i felt this game more like castlevania all the visual and places felt like the old games made me feel lot of desolation and sadness, if we go to the vampire as main boss you wont find it because the game itself is explaining the very beginning of all and i love that they toke the time to explain with lot of details the beginning and thats a strong point, also the story seems to be lot before of LoI and connected in 2 or 3 ways (of course this is an alternate timeline but it nods some things from LoI).

Anyway im big fan of Castlevania 2D games (until DS franchises i've only bought a DS cuz castlevania games in fact are the only games i have for DS but they started to feel less and less like castlevania, dunno if this is cuz IGA first does the game then the story or cuz Konami have the IGA budget low) i never ever ever ever liked castlevania 3D also neither GoW or Devil May Cry games but this really got me, for me got back the vibe i long for.

Also the games Apple of Discord, is the ending it will blow you and then hate it or love it, to tell the truth when i saw it i was like "hell no no no nooooo **** why?"  and after seeing it again i was "what the hell why not!!!! its cool and can connect the Belmont clan story in many ways it can fit, hell yes!"

The game is strong and its like watching a movie most of the time, again you wont find lot of Castlevania elements (bosses, enemies or LOT LOT vampires)  here but ill say it again its beginning this is the how it started all, if you are not bothered its not the canon line like you said give it a chance you may like it and besides it seems you will see lot more of this time line in the near future, like Cox said castlevania can have 2 timelines i agree many comics has the "what if" timeline.

Actually, In terms of stage design Castlevania should look at the sonic games, SEGA knew they couldn't make Sonic work in 3D 100% without 2d Side-scrolling, Castlevania is the Same Exact way, certain parts would work in 3D like some of the basic maps and hallways, but there are parts that only work in 2d like medusa head segments and Precision Jump Platforming, Going in the Hybrid route Like Megaman X7 (bad example) and Sonic Colors + Generations, you'll be looking at a very successful game in the works.

I'm also sure that many fans here would agree since most are open to 3d abut still want to preserve the 2d Platforming.

How ironic that Im listening to city escape modern remix from Sonic generations  ;D

I can definitely agree with Kamui here; just need to find the right blend and you can have 3D and 2D planes in the same game, and still make it a whole lot of fun to play.

I personally think Dracula X Chronicles hit the nail on the head.

The only reason I can see for not thinking so is if you have very narrow preconceptions of what a Cv game must be (in your own mind) to be a true Cv game. Personally, LoS felt more like a classic Cv game than the majority of the Cv games to come out over the past 10 years. IMO.
    Excellent post!!  ;)

Konami needs to follow Capcom's suit and not cater to the little kids who don't know what makes a good video game.
Good video games are still out there, though perception of what is a good video game have changed since 90-s.

I personally think Dracula X Chronicles hit the nail on the head.
To be honest I prefer the 2D plane games, so Dracula X Chronicles is what I prefer as a gamer (even if the game is a bit slower than the original, and I prefer the original).

But what Kamui was suggesting (by my assumption) is a way that Castlevania could integrate a full 3D plane and yet still be like the classics in some sections of the game. Asides from Lord's of Shadow, not many of the 3D Castlevanias have met with any real positive reviews. If not by the game critics, then by the fanbase. To sum up, having a Castlevania game with 2D and 3D sections could work rather well, and it would help establish a better rep for 3D castlevanias.

One of the more apparent issues many have with Lord's of Shadow after all is that it's a reboot. Since the 2D Castlevanias are more well know (and probably received by the media), using this sort of system could work to Lords of Shadow's advantage. It would pay homage to the classics, without really referencing them in story (I'm just assuming that it will be a separate storyline from the Castlevania we know more). This could also apply to any other future 3D Castlevania game, since majority of the fanbase are fans of the 2D Castlevanias more than the 3D (This statement is an assumption, but from at least from what I've seen, its true enough).

Also, if there was a way to hook a PSP up to a TV, or emulate a PSP, I would get on that in a second. I am dying to play the Rondo remake. My main thing is that I only want to play it on a bigger screen while kicking back and soaking it in. I really do not like staring 6 inches from a 3.5 inch screen for 5 hours at a time.

Also, if there was a way to hook a PSP up to a TV

The PSP 2000 series (slim, white) and above can do TV output. It however, oddly, doesn't completely fullscreen it. You also have to use CVI input (5 plugs; red green blue red white), otherwise it will not let you play games on the TV, only watch movies.

There are hacked firmware options to fix the non-fullscreen, and CVI only issue though.

If you have a PSP 2000 or 3000 then you can connect it to a TV and play DXC on the big screen. I do.  :)
