Apparently, Goat, the dude that made the kick-ass CV3 remix album, "Unchosen Paths", is an indie game developer now. And this was his team's way of testing they're engine.

Yeah i have to say his music is impressive. Being of fan of many styles of music i am totally digging the metal versions for those cv3 songs. Many of them are well orchestrated. By the looks of it he seems to have a good grasp on the gaming thing with that cv3 remake. hmmmm.... maybe he outta talk to jorge or something. Eihter way Goat's music is pretty kick ass. Especially diggin' the stream stage music!!!

Taking Edward Scissorhands to a whole new level!

I don't think it's anything more than a tech demo, but it would be nice to try it out with his music in the background.

He doesn't explicitly say that is something he is programming for the long term. In fact, he mentions he is going into game coding full time, which makes it highly unlikely that you'll ever see this CVIII-HD remake.

The resolution is a little curious though, as it is in no way a standard resolution for any game platform. Though, admittedly, Japanese PC developers pull random resolutions right out of their ass all the time. I've seen odd number resolutions before. Truly wtf.

Well, I'm pretty sure Goat isn't Japanese. The screenshot looks like it was made to fit a widescreen monitor or *maybe* a cellphone. The two best places for indies to start is either on the PC or cellphone market so either of those would fit.

NES games had an 8:7 ratio. (Although Castlevania's actual game map excluding the status bar was roughly at 4:3 ratio. I say, if you can take an 8:7 ratio or 4:3 ratio and turn it into a 16:9 ratio without adding extra tiles and still make it look good, hats off to ye.

So...am I the only one who noticed the not-so subtle DQ reference that FF did first? :-X
It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.
^^
You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

Nope I noticed it right away when I read the statue. I thought that was rather out of place really though. It doesn't seem like a good spot for a DQ reference but still cool that there is one. And made to reflect something from the original DQ game at that.

I noticed right away because there's no big-ass statue like that in the original game.

It's actually hard to tell what goat will actually do just yet. I talked with him a couple times once recently. I think his plan was to create and release a game and then move on from there to possibly more games. I know he got an artists to work with him around the time that he migrated to blogspot. Give it time though i am sure you will see something amazing. He always seems to see things through no matter how long it takes him to get it done.
