http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2014/01/23/candy-crush-saga-tries-to-crush-the-banner-saga-in-bizarre-trademark-saga/

So the news of these asshats who blatantly ripped off Bejeweled are trademarking a common work in order to prevent "brand confusion". And the kicker is that Apple's AppStore is enforcing their dubious trademark.

I'm fairly certain that a single common word by itself cannot legally be trademarked outside of a unique fictitious name. Beyond that this is just the most blatant act of greed I have seen in a while.

Brand confusion? Really? Maybe you jackasses could have come up with a more unique title for your ripoff game? ಠ_ಠ

And these guys get a "Right on!!"

It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

I know a couple of guys who work at King and I can assure you that they're not happy about the legal department right now... The developers, programmers, artists and designers have absolutely nothing to do with this nonsense. Why do companies have to become such dicks when they grow big? I predict people leaving King after this.

I sent them a message about it on their Contact Us form. Seriously, they should fire whoever is responsible for this and issue public apologies to their customers, their peers, and everyone in general. Their corporate guys and legal people are seriously incompetent.

I reaaaaaaally hope they become targeted by giant companies like SquareEnix ("Saga").

I want to see a curb-stomp battle. One that will erase King.com from the face of the Earth.

I wonder what is going through the heads of the legal department of King.

And the thing about the Pac-Avoider issue? Namco, where are you on this?
Director of that one 1999 fangame that is not out yet.
