Don't blame the Wii's "gimmicky" controller for the game's faults. BZS is just an overall broken game. It has nothing to do with the Wiimote, it has more to do with the developers creating such awful god damn controls for the game, and giving no Classic or Gamecube controller support.

It's not a developer's fault Nintendo has horrible taste in standard controller designs (even Gamecube has its problems,
face buttons of different sizes/shapes for example)

Nintendo "innovates" controllers in the worst ways.
And Wiimote made gaming even more of a chore and issue.  It's like trying to play an action game with a TV remote.  It's really dumb.

First off, the Dynasty Warriors games have more depth than people give them credit for. Sure, the older ones were really repetitive, but they were good for mindless fun, and were pretty much a 3D representation of old-school beat-em-ups, and were (GASP!) playable. (BZS was beyond a chore to play due to its controls, and while I haven't played BSS, I've heard millions of reports of sloppy and unresponsive controls.)

BZS is really bad example, it is inferior to BSS, the X360 version, in most categories.  and the Onechanbara games are
also like classic beat em ups in a sense.   They aren't open map like DW, but they do a lot more things right, especially for
their boss battles, which are more dangerous and defensive skill to win again than DW's enemy officers that are pushovers for the most part.   And on X360 it's plenty responsive.

Wii's fault.   You know SSB is unplayable to a lot of people, it did support Gamecube controllers,
but when a console has to resort to using PREVIOUS GENERATION controller to play a game optimally,
you know their standard controller is a joke.

And people can't expect all developers to support controllers besides the standard controller, it takes a lot more work on their part,
which they don't have to do for consoles like Playstation and Xbox, because at least they have decent standard controllers that
are practical for all genres, not just the simple ones.  ;D

This is not the Wii's fault. The library in my town has a room setup where people can play video games and stuff with each other, and a Wii is supplied there and one of the games is Smash Bros. Brawl. People go in there all the time to play it. And pretty much no one there has a problem with the Wiimote. In fact, the only one I've seen have a problem with it is someone who's never used the Wiimote before (similar things happen, like for someone who's never used an original bulky Xbox controller before).

It's not the Wii's fault BZS was unplayable, it was the developers. Games like Smash, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, EVERY Mario game, Resident Evil Archives, Resident Evil Chronicles... These are all VERY playable and enjoyable with a Wiimote. Hell, Monster Hunter 3 had some wonky controls on the Wiimote, but it was still playable.

RE Chronicles is a rail shooter, it isn't nearly as complex as an action game since it's basically point and shoot.   ;D  Zelda games are mashy and simple gameplay (that doesn't demand as much reflexes in combat, nor as many enemies onscreen) compared to action games like this. and Brawl is overall a simplistic game too that is very basic with attacks, throwing items, and knocking opponents out of the screen.    And notice, most the games you mentioned are 1st party games, it is silly to expect every 3rd party developer to use the wiimote to its maximum,  that's why even Capcom didn't bother bringing their serious fighting games/action games to Wii, it's very uncomfortable and tiresome using that controller for action and fighting games.  and even during the E3 event back then when the wiimote was malfunctioning or not being so responsive, goes to show that sensor controllers really are a step backwards for gaming.

Well anyway, came across the first story trailer.  Looking to surpass its predecessors.

Let's just agree to disagree, aye? I find it capable, you don't, let's respect each other's opinions on that.  ;D

Overall, though, this new Onechanbara looks promising, and actually competent compared to the other entries I've seen. I wonder if it'll actually play properly, since I've heard from some people who owned Z Kagura that even that game had some control issues. The game definitely looks much better, like it actually has a budget to work with.

If it has the quality Co-op implementation of Bikini Samurai Squad, along with the gameplay depth of Z Kagura
(as well as the other standard modern Onechanbara features)  it can easily succeed.

Not expecting online co-op, but the splitscreen co-op should be on par with BSS.

Seeing all 4 characters together, I speculate that some kind of 4 players co-op might be planned, or perhaps
2 players co-op where each player has 2 characters to tag team with.   but 4 players co-op would match
the "Chaos" aspect of the theme, though I think even with these humble graphics, 4 players might require
30 fps to run smoothly, and solid netcode.  If even Koei struggles with 2 players co-op online (teleporting characters),
not sure if these developers have learned much about online standards, and 4 players splitscreen, I dunno, there hasn't
been a 4 players splitscreen 3D game with large maps since Perfect Dark Zero, plus with the massive hordes of enemies in this, it might
be kinda choppy to deal with.  If there is any 4 players, it would be reserved for online.

now with 4 playable characters included, Onechanbara establishes a foundation that benefits
its replay value and variety further.   And those new super modes will be interesting how they function.   It's really
nice they are innovating the characters more with a new power up.  there's a glimpse of Aya and Saki getting
their own new power ups too,  don't look like they normally do in berserk mode. If vampires can get a powerup
taking Imichi/baneful blood,  then people with Imichi/baneful blood could get a boost from vampire blood.
Very very innovative lore.    ;D

Only 1 player?  Would have traded the four person element for 2 players co-op at least.  ;D
