I have always loved Metroid. For what it was, Metroid Other M was an enjoyable game to me. I did not even mind Samus being expounded on more, but I wouldnt treat it as canon.

If Nintendo remastered Super Metroid or Metroid 1-3, that would be choice. That is all I really want out of the series soon.

Granted, I only played a small bit of Prime 2 and none of Prime 3. Prime 1 was great, but Id like to see a throwback then go with a mainstream Prime title.

Yeah but that would be something Jesus would do.
I liked Prime 1 and 2 but did not enjoy 2 as much.  I don't think I finished the game (made it near the end, though).

Prime 2 was a bit of an odd duck for me as well. I liked the new suits Samus could sport however the Light suit came way too late in the game for my tastes. By the time you got it the game was pretty much over. I have finished Prime 2 several times but Prime 3 I've never completed. I've only played a small portion of the game and then I stopped for some obscure reason. Other M I've finished more then all other playthroughs of Primes' 1 & 2. I can only conclude that Other M's gameplay mechanics were the most enjoyable as it felt more Metroid-esque then the Prime trilogy did. That and it was more fast-paced. However the story was extremely questionable and the Samus character?--butchered near to the point of nonrecognition.

A lot of people don't like Prime 2. I personally think Prime 2 is the best in the entire Metroid series.
It has throw backs to older games, Super Metroid Music, ALTTP Light and Dark Environments, challenge factor increased (exactly why I didn't buy the Trilogy due to them nerfing the bosses in this game), more verticality to the enivironments, much better bosses than MP1, much more immersive feeling and feeling of isolation, darker and grittier than its predecessor, and an awesome final boss fight with Dark Samus. The one thing I didn't like is switching between 4 visors when fighting regular enemies (space pirates)

Prime 3 was okay, but far too linear and flat for my liking. There were improvements over MP2 though, merging beams was nicer, and there were some great puzzles too. Being able to visit multiple planets was nice too.

Wait, the bosses are stronger in the Prime trilogy? I never noticed and I finished both Primes 1 and 2. Prime 3 is still sitting on the back burner  :-\

No! The bosses in MP2 were stronger IN the original! Since Prime 2 was my favourite I couldn't live with that, so I opted not to buy the Trilogy. Trilogy for some reason got rebalanced as they felt some boss fights were too hard.

Actually there was another reason also, some of the special effects in particular the water effects of Prime 1 were significantly boosted to look more realistic in the PAL version, I believe the Trilogy version is the original English version from NA so the effects look lesser in comparison. There are Youtube videos of this.

I recently did a toy review on the new 2015 Samus action figure. I figure since this is a Metroid thread, the vid fits the topic :)
