I dearly love Mai Shiranui, but I still can't see her in a non-SNK game, with absolutely no other SNK influences. Yes Mai dresses a bit slutty, but I believe she really doesn't seem the kind to dress like the rest of the roster. But then again one of her pre-fight animations does have her remove a kimono with nothing on, then magically is in her outfit all of a sudden (with a little butt showing as fan service when she does pull off the kimono, but it is a really fast animation bit).

Couple that with Mai's VA being changed by SNK starting with KoF 13, and now into KoF 14 after being voiced by this woman, http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Akoya-Sogi/ for eternity, to a new younger VA in http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Ami-Koshimizu/ and SNK really screwing up her look in KoF 13, and I feel I barely know the woman anymore despite using her for so long in Fatal Fury 2 and onwards, right into the KoF series (off topic, Terry Bogard's VA also changed starting with KoF XIV, the question is why).

Mai is great in DOA5! She looks and plays perfectly. They didn't make her look any different than she always had. She fits in wonderfully. Well worth the $7.00 to download her.

DOA5 is an amazingly underrated and refined fighter. Sure there are slutty costumes for those who choose to use them, but there are plenty of modest outfits too. It's not a reason to boycott the game or write it off. You can choose what costumes you wear. And you can even turn the bounce physics off if you find it so offensive.

Honestly I was even surprised at some skimpy boob heavy designs in Street Fighter 5. Mai's stock costume design is skimpier than most of the stock DOA costumes.

I think it's still the best fighter of this generation. Anyone who loves fighters and doesn't give it a chance are missing out.

after KOFXIV, I probably wouldnt play another fighting game unless they remaster Project Justice on PS4.

DOA5 Core Fighters is free, and its great they added Mai, though Tekken 7 has better combat, and DOA can be frustrating with its rock paper scissors countering.

DOA5 flows way better than Tekken imo.
I've been choosing DOA over Tekken since DOA2.

It's not as random as Rock Paper Scissors. It's about split second reading of your opponents movements to try to counter them. That's my favorite part of the combat and I always miss it when I play other fighting games. It's why I always go back to DOA.

It's worth every penny getting the full game. If you want to brawl feel free to add me on PSN!

DOA is easily my favorite 3D fighting series, but I can agree that the countering system can get a bit frustrating. Mind you, I'm not good at fighting games at all, but the counter window is pretty large.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil 2 [N64]
