Regarding Lisa

We all know that she is Alucard's mother and that she was a human who was killed because people thought that she was a witch even though all she was really doing was trying to help the sick.  But, that's all we really know about her.  How did she meet Dracula?  Were she and Dracula actually married?  Why didn't Dracula turn her into a vampire?  Did she ever live in the castle?  What did Dracula's underlings think about her?  Did one of them manipulate events so that she would be killed?  Were she and Dracula still a couple when she died?

What do you guys think?

You certainly have a lot of questions there darkwzrd4. I'll try to answer some of them for you. Lisa wasn't turned into a vampire because Dracula had fallen in love with her. He must have felt that if she became a vampire it would contaminate the very human beauty that struck his heart so strongly. As far as I know, Lisa and Dracula never married. But I do believe they were a couple of sorts right up to the time she was killed. Personally I don't think Lisa would risk being seen living in Dracula's castle due to the political climate of the times (the catholic church's papal order and so-forth). If anything Dracula and Lisa would meet in secret. There are some other threads in this section that also ask these questions. You could check them out too. I hope I've answered some of your questions to the best of my ability.  :)

How did she meet Dracula?
That's the million dollar question right there. Dracula was traveling throughout Europe for 300 years. When he finally returned to Transylvania in the 15th century, he encountered Lisa, though where & how exactly is anyone's guess.

Were she and Dracula actually married?
I believe so. However, it's never directly stated since marriage is a "holy" ceremony.

Quote
Why didn't Dracula turn her into a vampire?
Lisa reminded Dracula of his former wife so much, he couldn't bring himself to corrupt her. Similar to Gary Oldman's line in the Dracula movie, he "loved her too much."

Quote
Did she ever live in the castle?
I believe she lived in the village, but she was definately aware of Castlevania.

Quote
What did Dracula's underlings think about her?
They can't think for themselves, they all serve Dracula. They are soulless demons. As for Hector & Isaac, I believe Hector respected her, but Isaac payed her no mind. His only concern was to serve Dracula.

Quote
Did one of them manipulate events so that she would be killed?
It could be theorized that Isaac may have played a role, but I don't think so. I don't think he would've gone out his way to make Dracula mad.

Were she and Dracula still a couple when she died?
Yes.

According to the Encyclopedia of Castlevania, Dracula was attracted to her because she resembled his previous dead wife Elizabetha.  I don't know how official that is or what the full translation says and the original source web page that mentioned this (KYASSURUBANIA BANPAIAKIRA) has been taken down though (EDIT:  though the artwork shown in the above post clearly showed they at least looked alike).  I speculate that she was the re-incarnation of Elizabetha as a result.
http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Encyclopedia_of_Castlevania

Don't know much else about her.  She would love Dracula for all eternity...  She loved humans and did not want Alucard to do them any harm...  Alucard made her some sort of promise as she was dying, but it's not clear what that was (probably made it after Lisa asked him to do humans no harm, but the Succubus's dream sequence really messed up the words she was saying at that point, so we didn't get to hear what Alucard's reply was).  Since the Alucard Sword and Alucard Shield were his mother's family heirlooms, she must have come from some sort of warrior or noble family.

Just for fun, here's some more references to Lisa's ill-fated last moments:

According to the synapsis for the upcoming Dracula's Curse animation (non-canon, but could be correct), it was a group of priests and a bishop who led the witch trial that got her burned.

According to the radio drama, the son of two of the people that Lisa had helped heal (Lyudmil/Ryudomiru) attempted to rescue her from her persecuters, but failed.  He later became Alucard's servant and the two of them lived at Dracula's Castle right afterwards (don't know for sure if Lisa ever did though).

After she died, Dracula hugged her closely.  Here's a SotN manga advertisement:

Everything else is just speculation.  I don't know if the underlings manipulated events to get her killed, but I have suspicions (especially Death) since they might have a big motivation for it.

Why didn't Dracula turn her to a vampire?  I suspect he loved her for her purity.  Turning her into a vampire would taint her and he would never want that.  I suspect they were married, since he and Elizabetha were married, he would probably marry her (though probably not recognized by the church, though I suppose there are plenty of chapels in the Castle he could use if he wanted to).  I'd imagine they would still be a couple when she died, for she would love him for all eternity and I suspect he wasn't doing anything "bad" (just Dark perhaps) when they were together.

I could see Isaac being jealous of Lisa and having her killed, though I doubt it.
