Time Reaper

I was thinking about Judgment the other day. What would a time reaper normally do? If the Grim Reaper(Death) kills people, collects souls and what have you, then what would a time reaper do and why does he look like death so much. Why does he serve Galamoth? Also is the inverted castle in symphony of the night Galamoth's, if not why is he there? Is it his castle, if so that would be kinda cool, but why would Shaft and Dracula there?

BTW Is the castle in CotM just some castle in Austria or is it Castlevania?

Time Reaper serves the purpose to travel either backwards or forwards through time. The technical reason is that the designers liked the way he looked in Curse of Darkness, so they just reused the basic design. In Aria of Sorrow, you attain Galamoth's soul which enables you to "go through areas blocked by time."

The inverted castle is NOT Galamoth's; it's just there to screw with the "evil balance shift" that's occuring in Symphony. And to add extra playtime. The castle in Circle of the Moon is never stated to be Dracula's Castle. It could be Carmilla's.

PS- Galamoth is the main enemy in Kid Dracula.

Maybe the Time Reaper Draws energy from time itself. Sort of like the Langoliers who devour usless, leftover time.

yeah, killing time is a good way to put it.

i believe he is trying to harvest the entire time period that Dracula reigned as dark lord.  he isn't just trying to change time so that Dracula never existed, but rather, "consume" this entire time period, so that the rough years 1450-1999 themselves never existed, leaving a "hole" in the timeline.  perhaps he is able to take all the energy that is in that period and give it to Galamoth?  its confusing and not spelled out very clearly, but that's how i best make sense of it anyways.

From what I understand, he wasn't sent there so much as to erase time, but to erase Dracula from time so that Galamoth rises earlier. In the future after Soma's timeline, Galamoth is the ultimate evil now that Dracula is gone. I can only suspect why he did this, either because he hates dracula THAT much? Or simply because something happened related to dracula (perhaps Soma?) that has hindered his evil plans in the future. I suspect that Soma had continued his battle against Galamoth, but no longer for evil reasons.

Regardless, we wont ever find the truth because:

1. Judgement didn't niether sold and wsn't recieved well, so no sequal to continue the plot is likely.

2. Anything regarding time travel has huge plotholes, and castlevania already is filled with them... forget about trying to make sense of it all. It will consume you with evil and turn you into a dampir!

About the inverted castle, it's probably not Galamoth's castle, but it's one of those things that possible.  i figure, if Galamoth has a castle, it would probably be out in space.  the final battle against Kid Dracula and Galamoth involved kid dracula going up a huge shaft that took him all the way up to where Galamoth was.  i can't help but notice that you fight Galamoth "way up there" in both games.  it's possible that Shaft figured out a way to tap into Galamoth's castle and synchronized it with Dracula's.

Either way, Time Reaper is stupid. I would have preferred an original creation.

Reinhart and VGuyver offer up the best explanations for any of the random contrivances Judgment introduced.

As for the inverted castle... Well, I always felt it was the true demon castle confined to the realm of chaos reflecting the physical manifestation that appears on the mortal plane of existence once every hundred years.

No, I bet it was there to silence the horrible castlevania redesigns. Perhaps in an attempt to spare his master s similar fate.

Galamoth: Go my minion, you must stop this acursed new character designsi n this time period. WHo knows what will happen to us if they spread through out the castlevania universe...(Imagines his redesign looking like a metrosexual dinosaur) ...NNNOOOOoooooooooo!!!!

Time Reaper:... okay? Sure, I'll go back in time to save your appearance. (bah, I should fo stuck with Dracula)
