I really don't see why the government won't just pull the plug on them. If PETA won't do their jobs as they should then they shouldn't even be in business.

I have no idea why PETA would lash out at an anime that's been around for more then a dacade.

Also, it's interesting how pokemon is still fairly popular and well-known by kids an entire decade after the initial poke-craze, when all the kids were after pokemon and everything related to them.

I really don't see why the government won't just pull the plug on them.

Well Peta isn't a government organization. And it's not that surprising that they'd attack Pokemon after the success of their last video game attack.
If you missed that one-
The Big Picture: Skin Game

Realistically Pokemon is similar to a chicken fighting and bug collecting simulator so it's is a soft target for PETA who just want attention and not to talk about real problems. Pokemon can be one of those things that sounds cruel if you think about it too much, but then you remember it's just a video game, cartoon and comic.

PS- this is a pretty amusing old critique of the franchise though.
