Konami uploaded new voice cast reveal

https://youtu.be/EpCS2VPsMd8?is=nxh47EsgQ0y5H5Hu

Side note: I’m sure this has been already mentioned but I do wish they brought back Ayami Kojima to do the artwork. The character designs are fine but they’re missing Kojima’s unique elegance :/

OG ISAAC REDEMPTION TOUR LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO

but honestly what a STACKED cast. holy shit
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

It's crazy we're getting Liam O' Brien back as Isaac. And I'm very happy Alejandra Reynoso and Graham McTavish are reprising their roles from Netflixvania. I may have beef with that show and the creative directions it took but I will always love the voice actors and how they brought the characters to life.

Absolutely. I gradually divorced from the show, but not a single VA on that show gave less than perfection in their part.

It plays well, but man, I hate to be a negative nancy, the music is SOOOOO forgettable. I'm not asking for Michiru Yamane or Yuzo Koshiro or Carlos Viola but absolutely nothing about the tracks so far stand out to me. The monochrome backgrounds also make it pretty hard to see the enemies IMO.

Still, like I said, at least it plays quite smoothly.

I'm on the pessimistic side of the fence.

While I like Dead Cells, that is one thing and Castlevania is another.
Consequently, looking at the game play does not give me the impression of likely feeling like any flavor Castlevania.

I detest the Netflix show with a passion, and this game seems to be sucking on that teat.
When I heard that this was from the makers of Dead Cells, I thought at least it would have nice pixel graphics, but instead it turned out to be flat, cliched slop.

Music is not bad, but I don't need the game to enjoy the music.

So yeah, unimpressed and unenthusiastic about it.

PS- You'd think a game titled Belmont's Curse would be taking place after Symphony of the Night, not 250 years earlier.
"Stuff and things."

Yeah, the Bloody Tears rendition made me feel a little better about it at least.

I don't like it either.
Everything looks plastic and cartoony. Where is the evilness? The contrast?
Why does attacking with the sword propel you forward? In a true Castlevania game you're supposed to keep monsters at bay, not use them as grapple hooks or ignore them by sliding under them a la Blasphemous.
Why the fucking Estus flasks?
Why i-frames on a spammable ability (the whip lash)?
Why the constant flashes and screen shake effect?

Also from the wccftech interview (https://wccftech.com/evil-empire-unites-4-decades-of-fans-with-castlevania-belmonts-curse-as-studio-was-konamis-top-pick-interview/)

Quote
Q: About weapons. I saw there are seven categories and I tried two of them: the sword and the cestus. I noticed that within each family, there are multiple weapons. How different are they from one another? For instance, does the whip attack differ per weapon within the same family?
A: No, we designed them as weapon families where each category has its own unique abilities and whip attacks. It’s more about having the gameplay fundamentally shift depending on which family you choose to equip.

So you're telling me there are essentially only 7 weapons in the game, and the tier2-tier3-tier4 just differ visually and do more damage? That's disappointing.

Quote
Q: One big addition is the Arcana system. I noticed you’ve incorporated the classic sub-weapons into them, like the Cross. How did you balance this? Did you stick to recreating classic sub-weapons, or did you create completely new abilities?

A: The Cross is directly inspired by the iconic sub-weapon, but the Arcana system is its own distinct setup with its own mechanics. Unlike classic sub-weapons, which you had to find throughout levels as temporary drops, you can freely choose and equip your Arcana at any time. We wanted to give players total agency over their character builds.

Furthermore, while sub-weapons were somewhat grounded, Arcana represent true magic spells that are tightly bound to the creatures you absorb. They can take very different forms based on the enemy soul used to forge the spell.
You could have just added the classic sub-weapon system on top of the Arcana system though? Like in Circle of the Moon and Harmony of Dissonance? Why cut Hearts, Axe, Dagger, Stopwatch, etc in a Belmont game. They could have also added the random Rosary drop or temporary ATK buffs to make candle drops more interesting.

From the same interview: the game world is like Order of Ecclesia (smaller maps around the castle), 20 hours playtime, and they haven't denied the existence of alternate character mode.

Not to attract hate here, but when Lords of the shadows games came, while there was almost nothing except names to remind Castlevania, music generic, like it came from Lord of the rings, game play copy pasta from almost every action game that has come before it, but over 90% of people praise it like it was the best Castlevania game.

Why am i telling all that?

Simple, because we have a new game after 18 years and i still remember people talking about Konami giving the IP to another studio to make a game and among them was the one that is making the new game and while the graphics may not be pixel art like the previous games, it stil has the Castlevania spirit, it's own new gameplay mechanics, new and old music, while it might not have the biggest weapons selection, it still has a variety, it tries something new and all i see is hate from older fans, when they were praising Lords of shadows who only had 1 weapon, no music from the main series, just generic orchestra music and combat that has nothing to do with castlevania.

We asked for a new game and before it even comes out, we bury it.

You raise some very interesting points but I hated LoS. I dropped it toward the end, finished MoF, and never bothered with LoS2.
Belmont's Curse looks like a step in the right direction compared to the Mercurysteam stuff, but we're still not there.

Yes, i know.

I also am not a big fan of the new graphics or the whip juggling but i'll take it from nothing at all and until i get my hands on it, i'll refrain my self from making assumptions if it's good or not.

Also about the LoS trilogy, i went the same way you did. Never finished the first, only mirror of fate and never got the second.

It's not like Dead Cells more like Prince of Persia, their latest game. While Prince is very good game with banger soundtrack I'm not sure the game style and feel fit Castlevania and from the trailer looks like a sequel to prince.

Netflix cast is kinda meh none of them stand out with all the swearing and cringe going on but I guess it's a marketing strategy they are trying to pull the casual tourist who watched that abomination so -5 for that but +5 for Isaac.

I hope Rose isn't sarcastic bad attitude girlboss(which is done to death and it's begining to annoy me) and more refined and dignified badass girl.
