when you have to stare at those terrible designs 99% of the time, and play as them you will feel down. those designs make this game, after all.

they're one of the core pieces of it, without the character models made from those designs there would be no game, or at most a game with stickmen.

I've analyzed a video from the E3 Build and found these things

- There are counters, when two attacks of the same type collide the action stops for a second (just like Saint defense in Saint Seiya Hades) and the first to react is the one who attack the other.

- Subwaepons can be changed in the middle of the battle (they appears in the chandeliers)

- Victory BGM is "level completed" and Defeat BGM is "Game Over" from the first CastleVania

- Alucard's base combo is very short

- There are combos in the air just like in LoI and CoD

- Quick launch attacks (Alucard's Soul Mist, Holy Water and Dagger) can enter in combo

- Dash attacks cancels some moves, so they can be a good combo finishers.

The redesigns of Simon were hardly drastic save for Chronicles and there's still a lot of people who dislike the Chronicles redesign.

How would playing it change our opinions on the characters looks?

That's not the point. Many of you are assuming the game will suck because you don't like the artwork. We won't know if that;'s the case until we play the game.

And for myself I could add that I generally dislike beat'm'ups with very few exceptions. So the chances of Judgment being good, for me, aren't very high.

Ok... first of all Castlevania always depended from 3 things... MUSIC, ARTWORK and gaming but the proportions are like this MUSIC and ARTWORK (80%) gaming (20%) accept it
So... if the artwork is bad and we dont have too much idea from music what could u say?
Any case, the gaming could be awesome but with those characters I just see another common fighting game, not a Castlevania release.
Iga dont put many effort to his games or at least not too much money... thats why 3D vanias are never too famous for the common gamers

This statement is kinda untrue.

Yeah, it really is.

A lot of CVs with fantastic artwork can be considered by some to have terrible gameplay, and the music kinda has deteriorated over the years, with a small handful of exceptions.

LOL. So that's why everyone here hates the DS games. They find gameplay in video games more important than graphics/sound.
