Trevor from CoD was a closer mix of the two styles.
Chronicles Simon is closer. DXC Richter is also a good mix somewhat.

I'd be intrestd in seeing a link tothis supposed rip off. No seriously.
The original painting was done by Clyde Caldwell for Ravenloft, 1983. All the artist who recreated the piece for Simon's Quest did was position Dracula facing the viewer, and add Simon in the foreground.

Here's info about it:

And a closer pic:

People here are OBSESSED with muscular manly men, and then they call Kojima's artstyle homoerotic.... roflmao.  :D

Anyway, the artwork for CV1 is a classic, but it's still very cheesy. I do wish they'd go back to showing the Belmont from behind on the cover though, like in CV and Adventure. That's the only thing I kinda like with the artstyle.

Honestly, the only thing I find cheesy about the CV1 art is, again, how Drac looks. But otherwise, it's fantastic.

ANd yeah I miss the days when the Belmont's faced Drac straight down on the covers.

The first Maria-like skill we see.
Actually, I've noticed quite a few of Maria-like skills, though many are hard to recognize right away.

- She yells out Suzaku (the fire bird ally she has) when the Owl uses its flame attack (in the Saturn version of NitM, Suzaku's powers gives her an Owl familiar)

- At the beginning of the round and during play, she lunges forward on her belly head first like she does in Rondo during her "slide".

- Like the egg subweapon in Rondo of Blood, she drops something on the ground four green arrows are released and head towards the enemy (can't really tell it's an egg and chicks, but probably is)

- Maria was the first castlevania character to have a double jump, and the owl emphasizes that ability

- In Rondo and many other games, she has a soul attack where a duplicate of her body lunges forward and flails her fists maddeningly at the enemy.  In the Dracula X Chronicles version of Symphony of the Night, this was changed to a subweapon you collected when you obtained a Maria doll.  In this game, the actual image is a rag doll of some sorts with no face that lunges forward and punches enemies in a silly fashion

- Her tidal wave move is new, but probably derives its power from her ice/water dragon

- In the trailer I see a move where the owl glows, suspends her in the air just enough so that her feet don't touch the ground, and does something (not sure what).  This does remind me of when the fire bird picks her up by the shoulders in her item crash.

I would like to see what she does with that special attack in that image with the four animal symbols in her.

I'm not crazy about fighting games with SquareEnix summons for special attacks. Hopefully the game is nothing like that.

People here are OBSESSED with muscular manly men

Muscular in and of itself /= manly. If somebody is trained from birth to kickass they have to be somewhat muscular be them a man or woman to possess sufficient strength to carry out the task. Look at many kung fu experts they aren't overly muscular but they do have to possess muscles to do all those kung fu moves and allow them the sufficient speed. Camy and Chun - Li of SF2 fame are both muscular women.
