Why compare CV to Metal Gear?

I would be all for IGA being taken off of the Castlevania series and having the continuity be revamped.

I can't really see Castlevania as becoming very story-driven. I mean, from its earliest incarnation (whether that was the MSX or the Nintendo or whatever, I forgot which),

It was the famicom (japanese nintendo). The MSX one came out 2 or 3 weeks later.

I don't know about a reboot. I actually don't mind IGA. He seems to have a vision for Castlevania, he's just not very good at realising it.

The thing is, apart from the SOTN clones, one reason people don't like IGA is his retconning of Legends* (CV64, LOD and COTM are back now), but here we are proposing a retcon of every single game. :-p

*Yeah, I know some people say he's sexist and that was the reason, but Shanoa should put an end to that.

Aerosol Kid: I stated VERY clearly why I make the comparison between MG and CV:
MG spans only 3 generations (stretching it) and it has a compelling story, while CV spans who knows how many but the plot gains absolutely nothing from it.
I never even mentioned having longer FMV cutcsenes, in fact had you truly look at what I said you'd infer I'm for the opposite.
You are intentionally corrupting my points to disregard what I say without even knowing that it is.

Alexc2808: Why re-start it? because it stands for nothing as of right now, to keep it would be only a creative constraint. To keep the same backgrounds would be to re-do the same whole god damn meaningless opera while only adding a bunch of meaningless complications.

I disagree with you all on the point that it's "action driven" and it always has been. That might have been it's origins and it was fine, because it was honest. But right now the series is focused on the exploration aspect which is certainly not about action, but about the mood, about spending a lot of time in a place trying to unravel all it's secrets. Which is why it would only make sense to give the place you're spending so much time on an actual meaning, have the game design actually convey something of even the smallest importance.

Hyperion: The thing that gives me the greatest doubts about IGA is the incredible amount of silly things he'll say in an interview. All the good things about his games are credited to his team disobeying him,I mean in every aspect where he's influential he's etiher pulling the same regurgitated unoriginal tricks or totally overlooking the most important aspect. We'll see if he actually starts proving his worth with the upcoming Judgement. The judgement is on him rather than on any of the CV characters.

The Portrait of Ruin preorder bonus timeline:

There's no storyline given for them, but they're definitely there.

that doesn't count, it was usa-only bonus without any involvement of iga. his official timeline still keeps all 4 as side stories.

Because I would much rather still have the character than not at all.  It's just like this in my mind.

"Ultimate Marvel is an imprint of comic books published by Marvel Comics, featuring reimagined and updated versions of the company's most popular superhero characters, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, the Hulk, Thor, Daredevil, the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Fantastic Four. The characters have new origins, freeing them from the sometimes convoluted back-histories of the original versions which were thought to turn off new readers unfamiliar with their extensive histories."

Okay, well, the day they make a turn based RPG for Castlevania, like Final Fantasy, I'll commit suicide. I can picture it now:

Wild Skeleton Attacked!

Simon used Holy Cross!

42 Damage!

Simon Defeated Skeleton!

612 EXP rewarded!

Simon grew to level 21!

THEN, I'll be angry.

Um yeah simon shuldnt' need to level up he's well simon, even in SQ all the level ups did was give your more health and allow you to sustain a little more damage (which was unnecessary anyway, and I think it was only there to widen it's audience). And it's even optional you can beat the whole game at level one, just wait till you get 256 hearts buy your item than gameover. Once you do this the 3 or 4 times required if you play through the whole game and don't skip around like I do you're pretty much set all's you gotta do is track down the flame whip, go to the guy who gives away free laurels to max them out and your set. You just gotta make sure you don't get too heart crazy.
