The other thing we finally got working is vertical scrolling areas. Before now those rooms could only scroll in one direction at a time, and even after we got it to scroll both ways, sprites and background data got all messed up, but now that doesn't happen any more.

Ah, good to know you fixed that nagging problem.

One plan we currently have is to also make rooms exitable from the top and bottom of the screen, so if there's a pit, it won't kill you, you'll just appear in the room below you.

Like Rondo :)

Here's a really quick and dirty sketch/coloring of Armund in case anyone was wondering what he's supposed to look like, which I honestly doubt.

Holy God this is like Lot's wife looked back at the ruins of Sodom, but instead of turning into a pillar of salt, she turned into a pillar of AWESOME. I'm a big fan of rom hacks that completely change the game, and this looks to take it to unimaginable levels.

Speaking of which, Dr. Mario, I have had bad luck getting some of yours for CV1 to work, mainly that one called Orchestra of Despair. I've tried patching it thousands of times, but VirtuaNES does not accept it. Am I missing something?

Edit: Oh, snap! The Cloud Castle boss from Belmont's Revenge! SWEET!

First off thanks for the kind words, though I'd honestly never really think of it as being that biblical haha

Secondly, wow, Orchestra of Despair, that's an old one. I should be wondering why you're wasting your time when there's stuff that's actually good out there. Make sure you're patching it to the European version of the game. I was a youngin' back then and didn't really pay attention to what region the game came from.

Lastly, yeah, the Angel Mummy is just way too awesome to pass up. This one is planned to work more like half skeleton, half dragon though instead of shooting out the boomerang things, and if it works right we want to try to force the player to fight from a distance. With the bosses it's all plans so far though, we haven't gotten to the point where we're actually changing/making new enemy AI.

**EDIT**

O HAI!

Here's a nice little tech demo for everyone so you can actually see some of the features I've been talking about.

Quite impressive.

I have a question though. If you were to fall down a pit, or off the bottom of a vertical screen, you will die, right? If so, will that eventually be changed?

Yeah we're thinking about making the top and bottom of the screen function as exits also. As of right now they are death pits, but that will probably be changed seeing how it wouldn't make any sense.

Browsing the forums I came across this thread again and thought I'd have a go at updating my old cover art piece. It was a bit of fun and I thought I'd share it with you guys :)
