Ugh...
Look, I purposefully did basic shapes,...
The "ugh" thing is not necessary -- I was just offering constructive criticism; which is what ppl should expect when posting anything here.
It's one thing to say you just plain don't like it, but I gave reasons. In fact it's not that I don't like it, it just needs work. Moreover it's not the best way to test what a modeling program can do.
It's obvious you would use basic shapes, because that's what the game used. But if you really want to see what a new modeling program can do, you'll want to try something more organic, like modeling a game controller or the like. Doesn't have to be creature like, just something with curvature and going beyond the use of basic tool sets. Perhaps making use of splines and the like.
Depending on how hard/easy it is to perform those more complex modeling tasks, you'll have a good idea whether to stick with the program.
As far as UVW mapping is concerned though, it's probably ok to stick with shapes like this, but instead of skinning them one by one, try something more challenging like selecting a group and try to wrap a texture properly on that. Try to get sides to match up.
These are key basic tests to put a modeling program through.
Did you not see the pics that did not have lighting?
