Castlevania page from Marcaplayer:

Among other things Cox says LoS started as a remake of the first Castlevania, with Simon Belmont and all. Also, Cox states "Super Castlevania IV is my Bible".

I'm kind of eager to play this game. You know, Super Castlevania IV is probably my favorite Castlevania game, with arguably the finest gameplay in the entire series.

Dunno if it's my favorite, but CV4 is near and dear to my heart. Don't know why Castlevania games don't draw more inspiration from it.

A 2D CV with 4's whipping made to be actually challenging would be godlike.

A man enters to a castle, fights with his whip against monsters to save his girl from Dracula's pawns. We could add all we want to it to build the biggest vampire tale ever. This is the escence of castlevania.
- "We are not making God of war, nor Devil may cry, we love these games, but people will see, when Cv LOS comes out, that they are very different games- Cox said- It's darker, our goal it's to make it very atmospheric. We do have some action, but also a lot of puzzles, platafforming and a very touching plot"-
Almost whispering, Cox was confessing to us that LOS was, indeed, a remake of the first Castlevania, starring Simon Belmont-
"The idea was to re create the original story, but we realised that SCVIV already did that. Do what has been done before is nonsense. We proposed to relaunch the saga, from it's core ideas.
SuperCVIV is my bible, do you remember? the whip was used to swing, jump, that was the basic concept of the old games, we replayed every one of them before SCVIV and we thought about it, "What was so special about them that they were lauded at their time?"
it was their platafforming and hack and slash, what we are doing here, is translating all the 8-16bits CV scence to 3D.
Think about Uncharted 2-type platafforms, impossible jumps, avidly using the whip to grab things and swing. Add a battle system  - yes, a la GOW - And a good dose of puzzles...""

End of the page :(

You are welcome!  ;D

Kind of a dissapointing article. Very little new info.  >:(

Has there even been a confirmed release date yet? I thought originally it was for April, which is less than 2 months away. We still know hardly anything about this game!

OK that makes sense. I was wondering why it was so short. Hopefully there's something new in the rest of the article then.

Interesting. I always thought Gabriel looked a little too close to Simon's CVII incarnation to just be coincidence.

New information!
First, 1up says that release date is july 14, my pal akumajouOtku asked Cox if that's official, and if Claudia was marie, the answer?
1 Nope
2 Nope :)

Then, I asked Mr Cox if marie was blonde, I (And i'm sure lots of you) am tired of blonde damsels in mistress in CV, and the answer?
Quote
She is a dark haired beauty, so be happy! :)
;D ;D

Then, I asked if the game had CGI cinematics, and, this is very good, if we'd have a bestiary, and what did he ansewr?
Quote
@JpCVfan All cut scenes are done using the games engine and yes, we have a bestiary which has many details to inform and help the player
;D ;D ;D
Confirmed again

Quote
Castlevania LOS is a CG free zone.Everything we have shown including the trailers is in game and rendered using the game engine. Official!!

So, be happy! :)

I have it reserved at GS and while I know it's not the official release date, they have it as October 17th thus far I believe.

Thanks for the information, glad to know. The graphics on the game look amazing so...

Im too lazy to search this long thread for the latest screens or videos. Can someone post the latest? I want to get hyped again.

I imagine the dev team is going to pay attention to details in God of War 2 and Dantes Inferno, since they are of the same vein. Speaking of, I am playing Dante's Inferno, and am loving it! It's not perfect, but it is definitely a flavor of God of War and Castlevania :)
